The current knockback on Badlion.
Posted on 17 March 2015 - 05:25 PM
Hello,About a week ago there was a strawpoll about the knockback on Badlion, alot of UHC/OCN players voted saying no. I bet most of the potion pvpers that actually need knockback alot to make good combos, voted 'Yes, change the knockback to Badlion 2.0'.
* Why is the knockback on Kohi better than on Badlion?
- Because on Kohi you can actually use mechanics to own advantages by pulling some good combos, and over comming people with low ping if done right. On Badlion the knockback is all ping reliant, it is impossible to combo someone with good ping and somewhat descent aim.
- On Kohi you can actually out-kb blockhit spammers. (If done right), on the other hand on Badlion when someone has descent aim and blockhit spams you can't really do anything about it.
- The current Badlion knockback isn't vanilla, servers such as OCN/Kohi have Vanilla Minecraft knockback. It is not even close to similair.
- In melee fights such as Diamond OCN UHC or MCSG you can just blockhit and crit spam without taking any knockback.
- It is really hard to debuff with this current knockback since you can not combo someone and then send the debuffs after him.
I'm not talking about changing the knockback back to how it was in previous seasons, but change it to actual vanilla server like Kohi and OCN.

Lol Kohi has trash kb, definitely not vanilla kb… lolPosted on 17 March 2015 - 05:43 PM
Everyone will never be happy. I have given up on this situation and just done what I feel is best (which is very rare). The current knockback is a mix of 2.0 and 3.0. There is no such thing as vanilla KB. It doesn't exist because knockback is broken at it's core. Maybe in 1.8 they finally made it fluid/consistent, but in 1.7 it is not. When I see posts like this I just facepalm because I talk to the owner of Kohi on a weekly basis, and he was just telling me that he was increasing the KB on kohi because there was little to none. If you are truly good at PvP you can adjust to any environment/scenario.

In all honestly, my garbage connection (to badlion only for whatever the reason is…) doesn't like this KB at all. No one gets kbed and I barely get KBed either, it's like an anchor fight.
I don't really know about other people, but a few friends I've talked to have agreed that the knockback in whatever version of badlion this was probably the best on the server since 1.7.
EDIT: This is when I had 230ms to badlion when I usually got around 120 at the time and it's still nowhere near as bad as the kb I get on EU (where I supposedly have 20ms).

Having a high latency will definitely affect your knock back performance. The knockback in that video is terrible. You're hitting him and he isn't even moving faster than he can run….what.Posted on 17 March 2015 - 06:10 PM
To clarify, when I see posts like this arguing for Kohi/OCN KB vs Badlion KB I simply ignore them considering we use the exact same patch on top of Spigot lol.Locked.
