So, I'm relatively new to the Badlion forums, but as the one server that has pretty much every form of PvP to practice on, I was thinking about ways to expand on that.So, no where, not even on subreddit UHC servers is there any way to practice UHC Horse fights. They're something that happen quite often, and some players would like to practice. I was wondering if
A) It would be possible to have identical tamed horses with saddles and armor to spawn next to players when they begin the 1v1
B) Would be even feasible to attempt to get such an odd ladder popularity.
If those two are ok, then a few other things. For this ladder, there would have to be a special set of maps that are only ok for Horses, since half the maps currently being used would be horrible for such. They'd have to be flat, pretty close to vanilla terrain, with a few structures or such around, though still relatively large, unobstructed maps.
Proposed Kit for Horse UHC:
Horse: Diamond armor, 14 hearts, average speed, little to no jump.
Player: Standard UHC kit with horse healing added, 8 bread or something like that.
Also, MineZ was a really fun ladder, even though it wasn't that popular. Would it be possible to bring it back?
Now, I'd also like to add a few suggestions for ladders that currently exist.
I personally think that there should be a specific set of maps that can be used for certain ladders. Heavily structured maps with buildings replicate and MCSG setting, but aren't very good for things like Diamond, and both UHC ladders.
I was thinking that this could be accomplished by making certain categories of maps, and ladders would select maps from certain categories. I feel like it's a good suggestion now, since pot maps are being re-vamped anyway.
Proposed Categories of maps:
1) Relatively large maps with vanilla terrain, excluding the forests. (Mesa, Desert, ExtremeHills, Plains, etc)
2) Moderate sized maps with lots of buildings and cover, like an MCSG setting.
3)Small, flat maps.
4)Large, flat maps with a moderate amount of cover.
5)Pretty much flat worlds, with a little bit of terrain/decoration on the sides (Like that quidditch map)
Here's how I'd suggest that ladders pick which pools to collect from. Keep in mind, I'm not that experienced in potion ladders, so I would not be the best person to decide what would be best for gameplay/replication of where you do PotPvP.
UHC Ladder: 1,4
Advanced UHC: 1,4
Horse UHC: 1,4
Diamond: 3,2
Iron: 1,2,4
Gold: 1,2,4
MCSG: 2,3
Archer: 1,2,4,5
GApple: 3,5
HCF, Kohi, NoDebuff: 1,4,5
On that note, Wars and LMS's should have a specific setting too.
War maps should be: Relatively flat, and a sort of head on collision between the two parties, small amounts of cover, for a little deviation, but not a lot.
LMS maps should be: Huge, with lots of cover, or huge with vanilla terrain, allowing for small fights between 2-4 people, as they head in towards the center.
Now, even though I'm relatively new to the forums, please actually give me some feedback on my ideas, since I thought them up pretty quickly. (Sorry for the wall of text)

Some good ideas, no doubt. However:Horses are simply impossible. First of all, we would need to actually enable mobs on the kit servers, which means that we'd have to either drop player limits or risk going unstable. Also, horses are totally reliant on ping. Like, they barely work for anybody over 100 ms. It would be really unfair and incredibly frustrating considering that's the only way to move around.
Minez was fun imo, but it's simply not popular enough. Anyway, the gamemode itself is dying, so I don't see anything coming from there.
As for maps? All I can say is it's a WIP I guess

You can always get off said horse and try to fight someone who happens to be on one.As for enabling mobs on KitPvP, as I said, I don't know the exact infrastructure of the KitPvP server, but since mobs aren't on, maybe make it a sort of pre-game arena kind of thing on UHC?
Since MineZ is still technically loaded, couldn't there be an Unranked?

The most popular gamemodes generally go into unranked. Minez absolutely would not fitAs for a pre-game arena for UHCs, how possible would that be @Archybot?

The Potion PvP server is already programmed for your map suggestion, but right now it's just sorted into Non-Pearl, Pearl, and both. If I had 1000's of maps to choose from I could literally cherrypick maps for each gamemode, but alas I do not (yet).Posted on 20 March 2015 - 06:27 PM
As I don't know how Badlion's map selection maps work, are you guys accepting community made maps?
