Hi. We believe in listening to our players, but not without valid reason. Some of you have been complaining about connection issues to Badlion for the past 1-2 months. We are ok with this, but not if you do not sit down and help us try to figure out what's going on. We have spent the past month doing tests with some people in the background to try and identify the cause. We have restarted bungees, reconfigured database connections, tweaked fire wall rules, and a bunch of other things. At this point in time we are safely saying that the connection issues/lag people have been having is from the data center. Not all players experience this lag, primarily the people on the east coast are experiencing it. Some central people are as well (probably because their route to the data center is going through the east coast entrances).

We have ordered a bunch of new servers at a new data center which we are not disclosing at this time. Our servers are staying on the east coast at the moment. The reasoning behind this is when we start pushing towards more clan battles/tournaments they will always take place on the east coast to give the majority of our players (NA/EU) an equal fight. West coast and EU get the same ping to this new data center. Needless to say central/east coast people will have a better ping but we can only do so much when it comes to how fast light can travel across the world.

We will be moving Tuesday 2015-03-24 later in the evening. We have not decided an official time at the moment and will shoot out a tweet when we do so. We have to sit down and configure a lot of our new boxes which will take some time to do. I could not get the boxes prepared fast enough before this weekend. It should also be mentioned that at this point in time we are downsizing our current setup in OVH. We have less bungee boxes running as each day passes because our month to month bills are expiring and we are not renewing them. There is a HIGH that there will be more lag/latency this weekend due to more players being shoved on the bungees. We will do our best to make sure the player experience isn't affected too much. We cannot make any promises here at this time though :(

I think this is a good time to bring up the "West Coast Server" debate. I personally live on the west coast, and I would love to add a west coast location to Badlion eventually. I do not feel comfortable doing this at the moment though. Financially and player size wise we are not ready to do this yet. We just added our Australia servers this month, which are having a good starting run. We hope to grow more from our presence in Australia. My goal for the players is to consistently start hitting 5k players online for a few hours during peak on the weekends. If we start hitting 5000 players online during the weekends every weekend we will most likely add a NAW (NA West) location to Badlion as we will have the right player size and the donations to cover it. We do not want to split up the player base too fast at the moment.

I hope I have clarified the data center issues, our plans, and how we do things here at Badlion. It's ok to complain, but please provide proof/valid evidence/good arguments when doing so. Lastly for those of you who have not seen Factions back soon to Badlion….very very soon. We think people will love the reworks that we have done to Factions. I can safely say this is the most polished/beautiful version of Factions that we have released so far.



TL;DR Moving data centers on 2015-03-24. Expect downtime. All regions will have to be taken down due to database migration. Only NA servers are being moved, EU and AU are staying where they are at.

We should get a host in the center of the earth so no one complains about their lag(Unless of course you live high up in mountains.

Hey guys I have been suffering from tremendous lag for the last couple weeks. I live on the west coast and usually get 80ms to ur NA server but recently have been getting 160 ms TO ur NA server. Will this be fixed? I dont care about 80ms -100ms I care about the 5 second bow delay and freezes.

Never played factions but all the salt reports and drama were fun to watch!
