I tried other client and the normal minecraft launcher and did not have this problem. It would basically freeze my whole pc to render it unresponsive and i would have to hold the power button for a few seconds to restart it. My pc would still be running when this happens.

Can you please submit a bug report from the bottom of the launcher? We will ensure to look into the issue there, with more information and logs.

Once you will submit the report make sure to check sometimes if a Tech support member replied to you.
