Why are there only a few minecraft versions available?

I want to play minecraft 1.18 but the only versions available are 1.8.9, 1.12.2, 1.16.5, and then some of the newest ones from 1.19 to 1.20. I havent used badlion in a long time but i remember there being a wide selection of MC versions.

Hi,

Some Minecraft versions were removed because they were barely used by the community. We kept the most popular and used Minecraft versions.
