Introduction:
Introducing the brand new Badlion Launcher! This update is the first of a series of updates to significantly improve your experience when you want to use Badlion! This update features a completely revamped UI, quality of life features and sets up the next updates well. Read on to learn more.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing this new launcher with you all! We will be doing a gradual rollout to collect feedback, add more awesome things and of course make sure there is no major issues. This update will be available for all players in the coming weeks.


The Design:
One of our core pain points for our old design was the lack of space we had that could be effectively used for new features. This meant anything new either crammed the header, or was hidden away in a menu to gather dust. On top of the obvious redesign, there is also a series of minor changes including cleaner animations, new fonts, better rounding of corners and more!

Side Navigation:
Over the past several months, we have found ourselves stuck deciding whether or not certain features were important enough to be added to the header of our current launcher. The answer was often no, primarily as we did not want to overcrowd the header or add a dropdown to the header. After lots of research and ideas, we decided that introducing a side navigation bar to either side of the launcher was our best course of action.




On the left side you have all your content, including play, news, store, settings, and more. This panel is collapsible for those who prefer a more minimalist design.
The right side is all about social interaction. Here you will find your notifications and refer a friend buttons as well as links to all our socials. This right side will be a space to keep an eye on in the future as we build out the ability to see, manage and talk with your friends directly from the launcher!

A New Way to Launch:
As part of the feedback from a large part of the community we have moved the play button and its key settings into the middle of the home page. We wanted to make this the core focus of what you see when you first open the launcher. Here is a quick guide:
Version Selector:
Directly above the play button, you will find the version selection dropdown. With the vast majority of Minecrafter's playing on the most recent version or 1.8, we have decided to pin the latest version to the top of the list followed by all other versions in order of release.
Optifine, Beta, Alt account selector:
In order to maintain a clean list of options, these 3 options can all be found by clicking on the cogwheel next to the version selector.

Custom Button Colors (Premium/Premium+ Feature):

As part of our belief in making sure Badlion is as customizable as possible, we have added the ability for Premium and Premium+ subscribers to change the color of the primary buttons!



Revamped News:

For the past 10 years, the Badlion forums have been the best place to learn about updates for Badlion. That changes today! All future key updates will be published directly within the game launcher and able to be read without needing to open a web browser.
In addition to this, we have also significantly improved the type of media we can show within news such as before and after comparison images.


Updated Settings:
Over the years, the amount of settings pages and options within Badlion has grown significantly. In order to keep things tidy, we have added some categories to better split up options.


All settings you currently have under your settings, account and privacy options can be found under each category


Other Changes:
Added a tooltip to the Optifine option for versions that Optifine is not released for.
Added the option to launch the launcher to system tray on startup
Added the subscription store page in the launcher, you can now subscribe without leaving the launcher!
Added the /refer-a-friend page directly in the launcher
Significantly improved the way we handle different window sizes
Changed the launcher banner to have text overlayed rather than on the image itself
Updated the design of tooltips to be more readable
Fixed Discord Rich Presence showing even if the setting was disabled in the launcher
Removed the dedicated singleplayer option for Quick Launch


Upcoming:
This is far from the final version of the Badlion Launcher. We have a whole list of additions we are working to add here soon. Of course feedback from the players will be used to help prioritize and shape what we do next!

Friends & Chat:

Online gaming is a social experience and for many years, Badlion Client has had a friends system with messaging available in-game. Soon we will be adding this with some fresh new updates to our launcher. Check out some work in progress designs to see what you can expect.

Background Updating:
Badlion Client is constantly being updated with the latest new mods, cosmetics and Minecraft versions. This means that every now and then, you will need to update your game client before launching. This can take a while for people with slow connections and can just be annoying in general. In an update coming soon, players will be able to choose to have their game update in the background to reduce the frequency that they see an update modal before the game launches.

Cancel Launch:
It happens to everyone, you click on the play button and then realize you are on the wrong version or a setting is wrong. We are actively working on making it possible to cancel a launch of the client so you can easily change whatever setting you forgot and get in game faster.

The launcher is still under work and only sent to certain amount of users, When it's 100% done, The update will be published out for everyone.
