Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me around what FPS I would get on mc as I am wanting to start recording on this server and want a good quality pc to do so. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/TpYY7P That is the link to the system build on pcpartpicker, can someone please help me ASAP as I would like to build it soon with the money I got from my birthday.Posted on 02 April 2015 - 03:14 PM
Instead of an SSD right away, i would get a 1tb hard drive.Posted on 02 April 2015 - 03:55 PM
Where is your power supply and cpu cooler…… Also 2400 ram is a bit overkillPosted on 02 April 2015 - 04:00 PM
15-20fps maybe 22 but that's pushing itPosted on 02 April 2015 - 04:07 PM
Also instead of that cpu I recommend an Intel Pentium G3258 its only 10 dollars more and is much better with a better ability to overclock, keep in mind you will have to change your motherboard so for that I recommend an ASRock Z97 Anniversary LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard and only $80 EDIT: You will need to update the BIOS so if you dont know how disregard.Posted on 02 April 2015 - 04:30 PM
For the graphics card i would bump up to the 770 if you have extra money.Posted on 02 April 2015 - 06:29 PM
I got a evga 500w psu so I'm fine and I might not get a cooler unless it is running hotPosted on 02 April 2015 - 06:31 PM
I wouldn't because the GPU would be bottlenecked by the CPU, so I will get a better card after I save up for an i5 and motherboardPosted on 02 April 2015 - 06:33 PM
I'm not gunna use the pentium as more and more games are using more than 2 cores and most now are making the most of the 4 cores, also I'm not gunna overclock. But thanks for the suggestionPosted on 02 April 2015 - 06:35 PM
I'm not sure about getting 1tb as where I work they are cheep to buy so will just put my os on the ssd and then get a normal hdd for my other stuff so my pc boots really fastPosted on 02 April 2015 - 07:46 PM

Okay, get an SSHD, which is an HDD and SSD hybrid, much better. Besides, your SSD is only 120GB. That's barely enough to fix your OS, much less any recorded videos. Your computer specs are fine, you should be able to record just fine with 60+ FPS perfectly. Another note about SSD's, they have a certain "lifespan." When you write data on to an SSD (downloading files) it slowly breaks apart the SSD at the nano level. Depending on the quality of the SSD, about a year's worth of use, maybe less because of recording will cause the SSD to fail. Also, if you are planning to get 2 storage units, I would not consider doing any RAID configurations just because of the dangers and cons. If you do RAID 0, it basically combines both of your storage units into 1 unit, combining the write/read speed of each drive. BUT, should the event come that one of them fails, you lose EVERYTHING. With RAID 1, you are much more safe because all of your data is copied from one drive to the other, giving you a backup of everything. BUT THERE IS A CON, which just happens to be performance loss, but have the same read speed as RAID 0 if your RAID controller uses multiplexing. Basically, read performance almost does not matter, but write performance is what you need for recording and whatnot.TL;DR RAID 0 is for performance but it's extremely unsafe, RAID 1 is very safe but slows performance, and your computer is fine except buy an SSHD instead of just an SSD. SeaGate makes excellent SSHDs.

wouldn't recommend getting an amd cpu, I had one there terrible especially that one. If your going to get one though get the amd fx 6300Posted on 02 April 2015 - 09:17 PM

To be entirely honest with you, the advice you're given here is going to be mostly by teenagers who have built 0-1 computers in their life, and all their knowledge is based off of assumptions. Granted with PC specs FPS for certain games is usually assumption based. So the advice I'm going to give is to seek more advice outside of Badlion, i.e googling similar specs/etc. Read the reviews on the parts you're buying, start at page 1, and read every single last review. I like to know what I'm buying from SOMEONE who actually has purchased the same thing. When it comes to a processor the stock fan is designed to keep the CPU cool, it does a shitty job at it, but as long as you don't mind the insides of your PC melting and never being able to overclock it works. However I would strongly recommend getting a new CPU cooler as AMD is known to run hot. Lastly I'm skeptical towards the 500w PSU, and to personal preference I would go 750w+.Ignore the Intel > AMD shit. I run an AMD FX 8320 and it gives me all the performance I could possibly need.
On that note, in no way am I professional at building PCs/etc. However, I wouldn't even consider your build.
