State of PotionPvP 3.0 & PracticePvP 4.0
Hey everyone. Today I wanted to talk a bit what is going on with PotionPvP 3.0 (what is currently live) and some of the issues that is has been having over the past two months. Someone had mad a very angry post demanding more transparency from the administration. I personally believe we are the most transparent server that is out there. The more people hang around the forums the more they will see the owners post on any subject you could imagine. Just because we are not making posts 24/7/365 about issues with lag, or bugs does not mean we are not working behind the scenes to fix them.

Problems with PotionPvP 3.0

The biggest issue we have had for the past 2 months has been "lag" on Badlion. Sadly there have been a lot of different things lagging on PotionPvP. It has not been as simple as "reboot the server" and all of the problems are fixed. We have addressed several issues over the past 2 months including new DDoS protection, new datacenter, faster servers, more code optimizations, and bug fixes. We have done a bunch of things in the past 2 months to help smooth out the issues, and sadly we did not see a mistake was made about 2 months ago. This issue effected EU PotionPvP more than NA PotionPvP. The /report command was executing database queries on the main server thread. For those of you that do not know anything about how Minecraft's server code works that is BAD. Every single time someone would do a report it would freeze the server for a minimum of 80 milliseconds and up to 500 milliseconds. Hence the EU lag spikes that people have been experiencing for two months.

It was funny, Archy came out this weekend to visit me for the first time IRL since we had to sign some business papers and stuff to finalize Badlion, LLC. We sat down in the same room for 10 minutes, stared at my computer and found the bug that has been causing lag for two months now…wish Archy lived a little bit closer to me haha. Probably would see a lot more stuff get done a lot faster, it's very easy to find/fix stuff when we are staring at the same screen.

First thing we want to do is apologize for this screw up on our part. We will be paying closer attention to the code that is being written in the future to ensure something like this does not happen again. We have already began implementing precaution code to make it so that this CANNOT happen again without alerting us sooner.

Some of the other issues with PotionPvP 3.0 currently are mainly based around events. I still have no idea how to break it, but there is some way in which a player is able to get glitched in the system, and be online but not be registered in our plugins. If you know how to break yourself in the system where you cannot get duels, or join events properly, or anything weird please send me a private message on the forums. I would really really like to fix this bug.

PracticePvP 4.0

So we are getting close to season 9. We expect to launch if towards the beginning of summer in late May or early June. We have begun work on the new PracticePvP 4.0 which will be a combination of PotionPvP and SoupPvP. The benefits to merging SoupPvP into PotionPvP are that SoupPvP will get all of the features such as custom kits, events, better statistics, etc. Not to mention players can now play SoupPvP on EU and AU as well instead of just NA (the current SoupPvP server).

Some of the other features we have in the pipeline for PracticePvP 4.0 are as follows:

- Integrated Tournaments - We will be hosting a lot of tournaments during the summer. They will all be integrated with a bracket system in game and online. @Archybot has already begun development on this. These tournaments will require our new client side anti-cheat which has been in development now for a while. You can read more about that here https://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/43697
- Tournament trophies on your www.badlion.net player profile
- Slaughter FFA - Finally will be released. For anyone that has played the Slayer game-mode in Halo you will understand this new mini-event. You spawn in a map with 10 players total. First to 25 kills wins.
- FFA Leaderboards (much requested feature)
- Total Playtime on each ladder/season/etc
- KOTH Event - King of the Hill. You spawn with a 4 man team of players. Your objective is to capture a control point (or multiple depending on the map). Team to hit a certain number of points first (1 per second gained in the KOTH cap zone(s)) wins. More info about this event will be made in a separate thread when it is closer to release.
- Ability to share other social media sites on your profile such as Skype/Twitter/Reddit/Facebook
- About me section on your profile (these will be heavily moderated. Any and all content that breaks the rules will be removed and you might be issued a ban).
- NEW MAPS. We have made a bunch of fixes to current maps, are working on new maps. Also working on new War maps and new FFA Worlds. The season 9 FFA Worlds will be Kohi, MCSG, UHC, and Soup.

Team DeathMatch

A long time popular game mode. We are still deciding all of the aspects of this new game mode. It will most likely be launched on it's own separate server system like Survival Games. More information to follow on this at a later date.

Conclusion

The purpose of this post was to make it very apparent that we are not trying to hide stuff, and behind the scenes we are always trying to work on improving the server and fixing issues. Hope some people are excited for the stuff Season 9 will be bringing also :)

What @Arcanex said basically.
Had 8 great seasons now with a huge amount of fun so far, looking forward greatly to the profiles, I was planning on suggestion something not too dissimilar.
With the transparency, there is a lot of instantaneous content on twitter which I guess not many people look at on top of the more forum posts. I've never really had an issue with it personally. Alternative war/lms maps is also going to be great, as well as a large(r) amount of attention to soup.
Can't wait for it!

Which means, there will be no lag in Season 9?????

Thanks so much for this thread. The lag issues really annoyed me, especially when people sometimes denied that it was happening, so it's great to hear that it's sorted and shouldn't happen to the same degree again.

Bring on season 9!
