NEWS: This ladder is coming soon to Badlion! For now Fire Charges or Flint 'n' Steel will not be available.Introduction:
Hi! I've always wanted a ladder that involved a fishing rod that represented survival games. Auphox and I decided to come up with what might be a good contender for a MCSG (Minecraft Survival Games) ladder!
Inventory:

Armor:
7.0 Armor Points

Golden Helmet
Iron Chestplate
Chain Pants
Iron Boots
Items:
Stone Sword
Fishing Rod
Bow
Arrows (8)
Golden Apple
Golden Carrot
Pumpkin Pies (2)
Melons (4)
Bread
Fire Charges (4)
Information:
I thought the randomness of the armor greatly represents how someone my be geared during actual survival games. It is basically full iron minus half an armor bar, so it is not weak.
The stone sword results in fights that would not be too short but at the same time not too long, and in the actual survival games you are more likely to see someone with a stone sword than an iron or diamond one.
The fishing rod is a big part of this kit. MCSG players absolutely love their fishing rods and I can tell that they will love to play on this ladder with it. They use it as a secondary tool to assist with combos and knocking players into walls etc.
This ladder should not be 100% bow fight, so I made sure that there was not too many arrows in the kit. At the same time I wanted to keep the arrows in increments of four because you craft them in increments of four, just like in MCSG. Thanks to Dantelius for suggesting that I should lower the arrow count from 24 to 8!
One golden apple adds a bit of variety to the ladder.
The multifarious foods strongly represents the survival games feel. It also promotes inventory organization and prioritizing. I tried to add enough that would last through an average match.
The fire charges fix the previous problem with the flint 'n' steel's amount of uses. The only problem with the fire charges is if the fire can be removed from the arena afterwards, if that is not possible then fire charges are not a necessary item. Thanks to Dantelius for suggesting the fire charges over a flint 'n' steel.
The inventory layout (referring to the hotbar positions) can be up to however the community wants it, but I tried to set it up so it could favor the players.
Inventory Version History:
Version 1
Version 2 (Thanks to suggestions from Dantelius)
Version 3

It would actually be cool if there were random chests around the maps with items in it, further showing the idea of Hunger Games :3 but that sounds too difficultPosted on 18 April 2014 - 10:19 AM

It does sound interesting, but I think that wouldn't play out to well. One way it could go down is that the same loot would always be in the same chests so it would only be about who gets the better spawn and knows where the chests are. The other way is that the chests can have random loots and even random locations, but randomness is not something you want in Badlion ladders. One player will always out-gear the other that way.

This is a great idea for a ladder.Maybe a splash instant dmg 1 pot too, just to make things more exciting (Only if you can get them in SG).

This is a good idea, however, I don't think they should have chain unless you can get it during the game. I'm more of an MC-HG person so I wouldn't knowPosted on 18 April 2014 - 01:21 PM
.. Way too many arrows. I would say 8 arrows tops. If you hit all 8 arrows fully charge you could easily kill them, or get them low. And a instead of flint and steel, just have one or two fire charges. (Same effect as fns)Posted on 18 April 2014 - 09:47 PM

You cannot legitimately get damage potions in MCSG.

This inventory is based off of Minecraft Survival Games, not MCPVP Hunger Games. The main difference is all of the loot you get is from chests around the map, so you get a variety of armor and food shown in this kit.
I am open to suggestions, do you guys think I should change anything?

Really weird. Today i was thinking the exact same thing and here it is!Yea, this is a great idea. But what i think is that we should have about 20-40 different kits with different stuff. That you have to use. Like you would in mcsg. So it just picks a random one that you spawn in with. (But in most of them you would have the fishing rod and ofc food and maybe a bow i was more thinking we could change around the armour and swords when differentiating from kit to kit). What do you think?

That seems like an interesting idea. The thing is, you would have to balance all of those kits somehow. You would have to give the same food to every kit because otherwise one player will run out of food before the other. Also, it really does not seem fair if some kits have some utilities that others do not. For example, one kit has no fishing rod while the other one does. The only other aspects you could try to balance between the kits is the armor, the sword, and the amount of fire charges.
It seems to random to me, I feel as if a lot of games will come down to who gets the best kit, even with attempted balancing.

Thank you guys for your input! And if any of you were wondering, this ladder suggestion is based off of the server "MCSG or us.mcgamer.in". Any of your suggestions of stuff to add such as potions, cobwebs, TNT, etc. is kind've not what we are looking for due to those being secondary items used on opposing Hunger/Survival Games servers.Posted on 23 April 2014 - 06:06 AM
I have entirely revamped the main thread post. I have also updated the inventory to add one more fire charge to match the four uses you get with a Flint and Steel in Survival Games.
