So recently my 2011 iMac has been shitting itself. It turns off on its own, takes about 1000 attempts to turn it back on, for 10 minutes - 2 hours game time before it shuts itself off again which is so frustrating because it makes me lose elo like wildfire. I was 1971 in OCN, then I crash in a ranked match about… 10 times trying to play then get brought back down to 1825 and I decided fuck it, not even going to bother after a good 20 minutes of raging. I was wondering if anyone could help me fix this. I've tried setting the fan higher so I don't overheat, I've tried resetting the SMC, I've tried everything the rest of the internet has recommended to me, but it doesn't work and it makes me think 'the people who designed this shit should go drink bleach.' If there is no fix, other than taking it to the apple store which I really can't be fucked to do, I'd just buy a new computer, although for this I'm not that experienced and would need help putting a computer together which is cheapish and could still record at 120fps(not like macs do anyways).Posted on 23 April 2014 - 10:30 PM

There's your problem.
If you buy a new computer building is definitely the way to go, this is the most commonly used website to help build:
www.pcpartpicker.com
Will let you know if the parts are compatible and what not, and it links you to the cheapest website per part. So if you do use this site you will be ordering from multiple different sites and your parts may come a few days apart. However you could always make your parts list there then search them all on one website and order all in one package. I prefer newegg.
If you buy a prebuilt, which prebuilts are not bad you just lose value avoid iBuyPower and CyborgGaming, I made this mistake once because they were cheap yet had very nice parts. When I got it I could tell the parts were refurbished and they ALWAYS use the minimum power supply required. So mine came DoA luckily I got a full refund since it was through newegg.
As for fixing your current computer, well I have no clue -.-

@MasterGberry these people are dissing macs!Posted on 25 April 2014 - 07:28 AM
I have one of the fancy Macbook Pro's with the Retina display. From a programming perspective it is amazing. From a high FPS section it is not. From a resolution point it is godlike. Anyways it sounds like your iMac is overheating. Try opening it and cleaning it out. It could just be dying also.Posted on 25 April 2014 - 01:08 PM
Do what @MasterGberry said, or get a strong antivirus software and scan for a trojanPosted on 25 April 2014 - 01:11 PM
Get an Asus. My Asus has never had a problem and still runs a solid 250-320fps. When I upgrade the GPU i'll probably run around 600fpsPosted on 27 April 2014 - 05:49 AM
