This thread is just for you to think first before judging someone by their high/low elo.Whenever I join PotPvP server, there are always people bitching about their ELO/rating and how someone's abusing it or manipulating with it or just has a high/low elo. What also came to my mind is, when I play UHC, there are people saying similar things like; "Someone team? Must be 1700+ in UHC/MCSG." -After seeing that, it made me want to puke… Seriously? That is just pathetic.
You have to take into consideration that there are people (like me, for example) who don't give 2 shits about it. Honestly, after spending the whole day at school/work, I don't want to come home and care about my elo or how I will rank up to have it more higher. All I care is to have fun, do challenges (10 fps, 30 fov, super secret settings, etc…) and not to care about stupid elo that literally means nothing. You can be the best player in the world in, for example, UHC ladder but your rating can suck. Why? Because that player absolutely doesn't care. ;)
Of course, there are other side of the people that care about elo, which is understandable. The server is competitive and there's elo to care about. But, if your elo is high or higher than someone, hope you understand that doesn't mean you're better than them. It just means you care about your elo/rating…
My point is, if you're going to judge someone by their PvP skills, judging by elo is the last you should do because some people, as said, don't give a shit about it. I'm one of those people, for example. And especially after I hear those try-hards complaining about elo and how they lost 2 elo and now it's the end of the world. So, yeah, my point is out there - don't judge someone by their elo, elo is just a side-effect to server's PvP.

Agreed. Having good elo is nice to have, but you have to respect those who don't care about elo and don't have a lot. It may be their first season, they may have taken a break, or maybe they aren't that good at PvP and want to improve. Getting tossed around because of low elo is just uncalled for tbh.Posted on 10 June 2015 - 01:42 AM

I don't have a very high ELO, so people are calling me bad. I'm bad at the game, and can't achieve and good/decent ELO, so I make excuses for it and say I don't try. Let me make a 4 paragraph essay about it.

I mean theres some thread of truth, but mostly with the people that ask about elo in a uhc. I have like 1900 uhc consistently. Never won a uhc. Always confused me why people equated the two, but hey. What can ya do.Posted on 10 June 2015 - 05:07 AM
yeah that 1300 is probs just as good as that 2200Posted on 10 June 2015 - 05:20 AM

The ELO system is determined to see your skill level, therefor, it automatically reflects it.case closed.

The Elo rating system that the server uses is a great way to assess one's skill. I have no problem with Elo being used as a standard to judge a player's skill beforehand. The way I see it, if you're not trying in ranked, you're bringing it upon yourself. Judging others off of their ladder rating is something accepted, and will most likely always remain accepted. If you're playing for fun and dislike the fact that you're judged off of your rating, start playing to gain rating. The Elo system is one of the best rating systems out there, and that's why it's used to judge someone before a fight.Posted on 10 June 2015 - 09:56 AM
People choose high elos to team with when it's the only information they have to go on.Posted on 10 June 2015 - 03:28 PM
Personally, I believe elo is a better way to tell how good someone is over UHC statistics. People in UHC can have a streak of bad games and their kill/death ratio can go to shit. Elo, in general, shows how good a player is at PvP.Posted on 10 June 2015 - 04:08 PM
I'm one of the bad pvpers on this network and when someone says I'm good I puke because that's how I am 😎Posted on 10 June 2015 - 06:30 PM

If you're going to be disrespectful towards someone who is just trying to state his opinion and say a few words about it, you can fuck off as from your response, I see you have 0 matters towards other and that's why I won't take none of your responses seriously. ;) To me, they're just a bunch of ramblings from some kid trying to "put someone down". Grow up. Thanks.

That could be a possibilty, you know. Have you even read what I wrote? There are people that are beast at PvP (not me, and not going to state any names) but don't play/tryhard for ELO. ;)

Still doesn't mean you can say someone is bad because of their ELO. For me, high ELO just shows me some player who only plays for a rating and not for fun, that's my opinion - you have to right to agree/disagree with it.

Hope you understand that high ELO doesn't make someone instantly good. ;)

honestly it's completely fine to judge off of elo because even if it's not somebody who tries for elo, their elo should be a rough reflection of how good they actually are.
