Disclaimer:[/b] There is no intent to cause a commotion or hassle, I'm just curious about the matters, bearing in mind I know little to nothing on the situations and have just gone by videos.

Now this is the point where I tread carefully as I'm not aiming to attempt to break rule 25 as I'm not directly talking about peoples punishments. However some 'popular' minecrafters have been banned on the network (again not mentioning any in particular) may this be by GCheat or by a member of staff and then attempted to appeal it but they've all been rudely auto-denied or blanked and even had unrelated reasonings into the punishment, despite providing sufficient evidence or actual POV footage of the ban at the time clearly showing they were not cheating and still getting denied- this is from my perspective anyway and I'm talking about no specific punishments in general nor from a bias viewpoint.

Maybe there is more to some of these bans than meets the eye and used external factors as a punishment leverage (again from my perspective), but I'd like to think Badlion is more mature than this.

I've kind of been out of the world of minecraft for a while now and I'm about to go travelling so I won't ever play again, but this was just a concern I had in the back of my mind which I'd always been meaning to ask Archy or GBerry but never really got around to making a post about it seeing as it was likely to get locked/silenced despite not (intentionally) breaking any forum rules. I mean I have full respect for Archy and Gberry don't get me wrong I used to play Civ with you guys a long time ago now and been here since the near start of the badlion servers. But do I agree with the reasonings and the way you've handled some of these "big bans", not really.

I've always had appreciated Badlion for its GCheat and it's efficiency like no other and was the first of its kind, however it's been strongly defended that it's never wrong, I suppose what I'm saying is how can the statement of 100%correct punishments be challenged or testified when evidence is disregarded or the thread is locked and nothing more is said about it. I mean sure, GCheat is great and very effective, but how can anything be full proof?

It would be nice if this thread remained open and was discussed (with no bans directly mentioned - unless given administrators permission below) especially to put my mind at ease before I head off travelling, from an admins response. - Again I have no intention of discussing any bans/punishments directly, this is a general thread aimed at the "better known minecrafters" who have been banned in the past and pretty much silenced when it comes to appealing it.

P.S: I feel as if I'm treading on thin water, but so be it, someone had to ask/question. You don't know unless you ask I suppose.

Or if you don't want it publicly talked about, I would just like to know via PM or something, it's been bugging me for a while now!

I cannot really get into the details as to how GCheat works without giving out its secrets, which are under a NDA lockdown. I can safely say that GCheat was a long term project and wasn't done in one night. A lot of time and research/thinking went into it. In fact GCheat has been around for 14 months. No one knew about it for a long time because it was never accurate enough for auto-bans until I sat down and made some further improvements on it. It used to just shoot off admin/mod level logs and the moderators/admins would check out who GCheat thought was cheating. We spent a lot of time verifying the data and eliminating false positives (minus one small bug that I have to fix) before putting it into effect.

@MasterGberry that all sounds very well and respectable, but what about the cases (again not specifically talking) where the users have been banned despite having POV when they were punished where they weren't hacking (and no I'm not just sprouting crap out of my mouth they were recording at the time of the ban) yet still GCheat banned? Then when the evidence was provided the threads just got locked, or the evidence was ignored and the user was just silenced from game and forums, for whatever reason that may be I was lead to believe that they just assumed GCheat was never wrong. I mean it was made quite clear to me on multiple cases where users were banned via GCheat and at the time were recording which was uploaded as evidence and they were still not given justice? Just makes me doubt the system and GCheat as reliable as it is may that be a problem with the staff team or GCheat itself, I'm not entirely sure.

Let me put it this way with no hate intended, from my perspective it seems that some users have been banned (with the implementation and backup of GCheat) yet they have solid evidence to support they were not, especially the cases where they were recording at the time and the administrators have taken the attitude that GCheat is not wrong (+ other external factors which are completely unrelated to minecraft) they have just been silenced and locked?

And if you'd allow me to name drop a specific IGN (Punishment) so I could elaborate upon what I'm trying to get at that would be appreciated.

GCheat knows who is bluffing and who is not. We do unban people when the logs are wrong, which almost never happens.

I have recorded myself on an alt using a ghost client and every major network staff (and every hack developer I showed it to) couldn't tell I was cheating from a first person recorded view.

Videos mean nothing.

I'm confused then, because you must know, not every system is 100% foolproof it's impossible. How is one meant to disprove a system or pick out mistakes when there is no possible way to do so other than POV videos especially when they're ignored or disregarded. A non-namable case for example where a user even was recording mouse cam for example still go punished and silenced was not given the chance to properly appeal despite there being a lot of evidence against the ban?

It seems to me that the attitude being we've done all the necessary tests to pretty much base all of our faith into the system, which I'd like to believe you have from what you said you have sounds very respectable.
