Yeah badlion doesn't have the most broken elo system possible or anything. It all makes sense. http://puu.sh/ixBBO/7f64e7a141.pngFor reference sake, in 10 matches I lost 171 elo and gained a mere 11. There is absolutely no reward in risking a rank if you're going to gain ~5 from someone or lose 26 to someone. It doesn't make sense that you can potentially lose what you spend a long time trying to build in the matter of a few matches.

This is how the elo rating system works, this isn't how only Badlion's ELO works, if you lose to a lower rank, you lose more elo than say if you lost to a higher rank. Obviously you aren't going to gain a lot of elo if you're 1600 and you fight a 1200 because their skill level is much lower, but if they beat you, they get more elo because they beat a rank much higher. It doesn't look like you understand how ELO works, which is why you made this post. I hope this clears something upPosted on 21 June 2015 - 10:22 PM
Don't assume I don't know how something works just because I pointed out directly what is wrong with your particular elo system. I've gone on other servers that don't rob you of 28 elo just because you so happened to lose to someone who just started out or something. If I am an 1800 rank and I lost to someone who just started out and is at a 1400, i'm going to lose a whole bunch. I lost to someone who I knew was better than me yesterday and ended up losing about 50 to them because they had just started out. Any smart person would not put their ranks on the line if they knew they had the potential to lose 30 and only gain 1. Also, on a side note, there is no reason for you to act like a smartass because you think whatever you say is always correctPosted on 22 June 2015 - 12:37 AM
Sorry I want to play when unlimited rank matches are still a thing?Posted on 22 June 2015 - 12:37 AM
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_systemWe use an exact ELO system, where an even match is +-16

The idea is that eventually, if you play enough matches, eventually your elo shows your exact skill compared to others. Of course, our pool is neither large enough nor consistent enough to ever reach that goal, but that's the ideology behind the system.Posted on 22 June 2015 - 03:56 AM
As the number of matches you play increases, you will be put close to the elo that corresponds with your skill level.Posted on 24 June 2015 - 09:45 PM
This ELO system would be good if 1700s didnt lose 30 ELO while lagging out in matches with 1200s.Posted on 24 June 2015 - 10:42 PM
LAG is a factor which will affect every system. Don't blame the system for an outside factor that you can apply to everything.Posted on 25 June 2015 - 07:23 AM

Actually, whenever I go onto Badlion im usually in a skype call. If I end up getting major FPS or server lag, my friends always say they get it too, so most of the time, it is not because of external factors.
