When joining the que for ranked, you should only be matched up against people with ELO near your's. I'm tired of wasting my time fighting people with 1300 ELO. They are horrible and I barely gain any ELO when I waste my time killing them. Another defect is when the server lags and they are able to luckily kill you when you are waiting for your potions to land. For example, a high ELO player should be matched against other high ELO players.
A player with 1820 ELO would be matched against a player with 1801 ELO.
Also, I mentioned this in a post on another thread, but you (the owner) should think about switching hosts to somewhere on the west coast. Most of the community comes from large servers like HCF, Gontroller, and Mineage, and these are all hosted on the west coast. Preferably staminus. It would make much more sense to be on the west coast now that Strawhats isn't a competitor and does not exist anymore(it was hosted on the west coast).

Lots of people have suggested this but the player count isn't high enough to implement this system; however, I really like this idea since when I was 1990s in vanilla earlier today it was annoying fighting people and gaining 0 elo. Annoying af in vanilla too since most matches take at least 1 minutePosted on 07 May 2014 - 03:36 AM
When choosing server locations, the admins considered many things. East coast was deemed the best option, and will likely not be changed anytime soon. As for the Elo suggestion, I will say what mastergberry says just about everytime: the current population is not high enough for us to do that.Posted on 07 May 2014 - 05:33 AM

MasterG said something about potion lag being caused by nocheat, any ETA on when that will be addressed? I am getting tired of constantly having to beat people and gain 2 ELO, or die from potion lag and lose 20+ ELO :/

Until I can get rid of Nocheatplus on the server completely, I can't do much about it at the moment. It's on my TODO list, but it probably won't get addressed until after factions 2.0 is released and running smoothly. I can then sit down an work on my custom anti-cheat some more.

If there was like 30 second cycles on ranked matchmaking. For 30 seconds, players who join the queue will be added to a list. When the 30 second cycle ends, it will match the players with the closest elo player in the list. Then the matches start and a new 30 second cycle starts.Posted on 11 May 2014 - 02:41 AM
Even if you're fighting players at ~1300, it doesn't mean they're bad, it just means they have terrible luck. And while they may not give you much ELO, if you truly deserve something like an 1800 than you can easily keep winning.I do agree that pot lag is a bit annoying, but I disagree about the East Coast. As proven on other servers, more people play on the East Coast than the West Coast, me as an example. While ideally it would be better to have it in the middle of the country (It would not only provide an equal spectrum of ping to both coasts, but since less people live in Kansas than on the East/West coasts, more even amounts of ping and therefore better fights.) I don't think there's a good source for the staff to put it there.

but then again eu players will suffer from even a higher ping …Posted on 11 May 2014 - 02:56 AM

True, but then again Oceania and Asia would have a slightly better ping. Considering the population difference, in the end choosing the West Coast would in fact be better for efficiency for other continents.

No, you put it where are all the major pvp servers are because their community also makes up all of this one and so players are actually practicing the same as actually fighting on the real deal.

I would rather have it at a place where its fair for the entire country than just one group of PotPvPers. If they're really good, they can get past a little ping difference.

Sadly ever since 1.6/relog was introduced, there aren't very many "good" pvpers. A lot of the ones that appear good either use an autoclicker or do a lot of knockback and have far reach (even if they don't have good ping). I've been begging MasterG to fix this but I don't think he 100% knows how (yet). @MasterGberry

Could you open up a new world without Nocheatplus and all the other things preventing hackers? I would love to see what it's like to actually fight without plugins modifying our combat and stuff. I can get a few other players that 100% do not cheat to come test stuff if you want. @MasterGberry

I've actually taken off NoCheatPlus a few random times on the server to prevent a placebo effect and see what happens/complaints etc.Not really much of a difference. I think I have a guess how Potions work when you throw them down anyways, it probably goes something like this:
Scenario A:
Player throws potion, sends packet to server.
Server checks if potion exists, if so sends back splash packet and updates health client and server side.
Scenario B:
Player throws potion, sends packet to server.
Server checks if potion exists, if so sends back splash packet.
Client receives splash packet and then updates his health based on the location the pot broke in relation to where he/she is standing.
Client sends packet to server saying he gained some health.
If it is scenario B, its got to do 2 whole round trips before it can finalize what is going on, hence creating some extra "lag".
The reality of it is games will always have Ping, and it simply cannot be gotten rid of.

Could I try it with Scenario A pleaseeeeeee
