How would you know? You can't see invisible people.

I know I've only been a trial a few days, but during that time I've learned a lot. I once made a post like this, so I understand your pain.A few things I'd like to say, for starters not every report we get is an actual hacker, I think 60-70% of the time it's actually a legit player that gets reported. Many reports that people feel are overlooked are actually just players rendered innocent. We also get countless reports coming in, and there's no way to filter which is legit and what's not without investigating and that takes time. So although unfortunate, not every single report gets viewed. Also keep in mind that moderators like to play the game as well. By being staff you sacrifice countless hours to benefit the server, so if one is actually playing you shouldn't look at them as useless. Also another thing I've seen lately that ticks me off a bit is when people are like "MOD TP" then 30 seconds later "thanks a lot for not tping". We can't jump on every single complaint/report instantly.

I personally think we should have better mods, I'm sorry if I sound harsh but you guys don't really do anything, the only good mod is BraveOne in my opinion, he actually answers to my reports.Posted on 10 May 2014 - 02:59 AM

How would you know they aren't doing something? Last time I checked you guys can't see them when they are doing their job!

Tbh, the staff is all good. i really don't care they are all good people. If you want them to respond. Either ./msg them personally or show them proof. Unless they are not obligated to go through every single report because it's impossible.Posted on 10 May 2014 - 03:41 AM
I wouldn't of died if they were " doing there jobs " and i wouldn't have to fight them another 3-4 times until i get tired and fucking rage quit.Posted on 10 May 2014 - 03:44 AM

Not sure if you're talking about FFA or a 1v1, but staff are not allowed to ban during ranked 1v1s, period.

Midday, there's usually around 6 moderators on in total. The server (Kit PvP) is usually peaking at around 320, and around half of those mods are either moderating the forums and or playing the server it's self. The leaves the entirety of the server up to around three moderators, when two of those may be trial moderators who can not ban. Moderators are players like the rest of us, and are expected to play as normal players as well as to contribute time to the staff team. Now, we can assume that at least half of the the server's population are PvPing. Around 5% of the server's community is banned, so we can assume that 9 players are cheating/exploting some way on the server (at once). Now, 3-1 staff members left to deal with that. Dealing with cheaters isn't instant, and it usually takes more 5+ minutes. By that time, we're flooded with plenty more of reports.

That isn't true

If you saw a mod doing their job, they'd be doing it wrong. We want our moderators to ninja up and catch hackers without tipping them of. This is why we are so draconian in enforcing "No Public Accusations in chat".Moderators are also players. So if 6 are on maybe only 4 are currently working and the other two have just stopped working and are having some fun. This is their right as, you know, human beings.

Most moderators do not respond to reports. They are not encouraged to either. You will know if your report was spot on if the person is banned. The moderators focus on going through each report and getting onto the next, not following each report up with explanations.

If you got reported by someone and you instantly got banned without a proper investigation, would you be happy? If we instantly banned anyone that was doing decent and got reported we'd have a population of about 10 people. It is unfortunate that you may run into the person again, but it is simply not fair to ban someone until sufficient evidence and surveillance has been carried out to be sure the person needs removed from our server.

This is true. Moderators are not allowed to ban during ranked games.
We are constantly expanding our staff. However, there are at any given time dozens of applications and most people are, to be honest, not at all suited to a staff position. But, although slow, our moderator numbers are constantly rising.

True that most of the time it's not a hacker, but I've never had a mod confirm with message like, "Hey, he wasn't hacking." to clear things up for the players, I feel like that would help this situation a lot more.

The only problem with that is quite a lot of players would then waste everyone's time by shit-talking and arguing with the mod, because they think the person was hacking and that the mod was wrong. It puts the mods in a bit of an awkward situation that takes time away from actual moderating.

I'm new to the forums (Even though I've played on Badlion since the first tourney) but from what I understand Badlion has been recruiting a lot of people as Trial Mods. This is actually a very good idea when you think about it, by recruiting many you can pick out a select few to move on and become moderators. Its basically like OCN, but with stricter mod powers and larger batches. Unfortunately, the only con to this is that I've seen a few trial mods have to frequently kick/mute blatant hackers, which is a little inefficient. However, they still get the job done, as @BurntCactus has shown while I've played on Soup this past week.Basically:Quality over quantity, but start with a big quantity.
(I apologize if this is repetition, I have not read many of the pots above this one.)

I'd say quality AND quantity is best. Also, trials should NOT be kicking people for hacking, they should be collecting evidence and posting it on the forums.
