If he didn't mean it like that then it shouldn't be offensive. Anyways, I do think chat doesn't need a little less moderation. The "noob" thing is just ridiculous, but saying more offensive things, like stfu, kys, hackusating, and other things like that are mutable.

Update: I've been muted for saying "100x100 is hitler"This shit isn't even bad ffs, mods need to stop muting for everything.

Most of the kids here are just ragers. Just learn not to rage. Or just rage against some thing else (in my case my Mom).Posted on 17 July 2015 - 12:43 PM

I wasn't going to mute for this, I understood what you meant about only specing 100x100 being crap, but someone else took offence to this therefore I had to mute, it's not just mods muting for no reason, they mute because people get offended by some of the things said in chat

Okay, so apparently you can't post while you're banned. I am Dylarno. Now when I complained about the pointless/stupid mutes/bans I have gotten recently, I got the response "It seems that Badlion mods hold grudges on particular people". And that response made me realise that it's not the mods holding grudges on people/favouring others, it's the players that do. One of the main reasons alting is now allowed is because the amount of witch hunting going on, specifically with known people in the community. The exact same thing is beginning to happen with mutes. People are just calling people out for stuff that might have the slightest chance of getting someone they know or don't like muted because they find it funny if they actually get muted for it.

If you weren't going to mute me for that, then you shouldn't have muted me. You do realise that the people who complain about the little things in chat and say "MUTE DYLARNO" 99% of the time aren't actually offended? I'm a pretty well known person in the community and people find it funny to see the "Dylarno (or anyone else they know for that matter) has been muted for _______" in the chat. I say the smallest thing that isn't even offensive and people who know me jump on it and try and get me muted, then you guys muting me gives them satisfaction and the circle goes round.
To test this theory, I was playing a UHC game. I got 5 people muted within minutes for petty little crap. Here's some of the quotes that I got people muted for simply because I said in chat "mute (name) for (reason)"
"lag lag lag" <– got them muted for server disrespect
"stfu Daren (A quote from my friend SSiafs to his close friend Daren) <– got him muted for player disrespect
"That skeleton got rektbood" <– got them muted for filter bypass
and then after me calling out these people in chat and getting them all muted, someone said "stfu Dylarno". Did I give a single shit? No. Should I give a single shit? No. Is that offensive in any single way? No. I said to mute them in chat, and bam, there we go, muted. If I, or anyone else reporting this sort of petty things REALLY cared enough they would utilise their /ignore list that Badlion has provided them with.
IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO READ THE WALL OF TEXT AT LEAST READ THIS:
Honestly, I think a new approach needs to be taken by the mods. We have a /ignore list. Get people to use it. Okay, if someone is being completely toxic to everyone in the chat, spamming, handing out death threats, frequently bypassing the chat filters, or just obviously being a complete dick to people, mute them. Go ahead. If there are things such as telling someone to shut up/stfu (obviously if they are doing this excessively to people go ahead and mute them for being toxic), calling someone a noob, idiot, anything of that sort that 99% of people don't find offensive, or saying things that 1 person may find offensive but no one else on the server does because well uh welcome to the internet, then don't mute them, mods tell the single offended person (if there even is one, in the cases of most of these mutes there is not) to put them on their ignore list. This is the direction that the server needs to be taking in my opinion, and I'm sure most people agree with me.

EDIT: and I really hope you guys understand that I'm not attacking the Badlion staff. I'm just trying to help improve the server and keep players happy. Also the whole thing about people deliberately trying to get particular muted over stuff no one even cares about may just be a trend in the AU Badlion community, so I'm sorry if my arguments are biased to AU Badlion, not sure if NA/EU have these issues.

AU Badlion is by far the most toxic set of our players.Take a hint AU players, clean up your act.
Anyways one of the flaws in your arguments above is we do not see everything all the time.
We do encourage people to use ignore, but if someone is breaking the rules they are breaking the rules.

Okay, I guess this is probably just a problem on the AU side.
My main issue with the current AU mods is that they are muting over the smallest things, and moderating the chat so heavily that any swear remotely aimed at someone results in a mute
MasterGberry wrote
That is something that supports my argument, I think. The mods don't see everything said in the chat because they are busy either playing themselves, hosting etc. so most of the times mutes only happen when someone takes the time to call someone out on it. It's like the whole ban evasion thing and why you now allow alting, because you can't catch everyone and it's unfair on those who get witch hunted. I can guarantee that my last 3-4 mutes a regular player wouldn't have been muted for, and are borderline breaking the rules, if they even are. People call me and others out in chat because they get a great kick when they see the mute message.
My last mutes:
"Wqcked team idiot" (in a UHC, he was fighting us when it was tactical to cross team)
"speccing 100x100 is hitler" (in a UHC, there was a fight outside 0,0 and I couldn't see it)
Some of my friends last mutes recently:
"water is gay" (got stuck in water in a UHC and died, dem homophobic slurs)
"shut up" (lol… really?)
What I'm saying is that with little things like that, the mods need to tell the players to use /ignore. Mods can then make the decision whether they need to be muted because they are continuing to be toxic in the chat/to other people. These are all words that are used in general conversation today that generally aren't considered to be offensive, especially on the internet.

Glad to hear, but unfortunately I've never seen an AU mod encourage or even mention the ignore list. The only exception to this stuff being Hanayo_Maki_Rin who I've never seen give a pathetic/unfair mute, while still moderating properly.

PoshNPie recently been muted for 24 hours because he killed someone in a UHC and said "you rekt me" because the player did a lot better than him. Again, yes, technically filter bypass but the whole point of that filter is to stop people being rude pricks, when Posh was complimenting the guy it was aimed at.Posted on 20 July 2015 - 05:42 AM

Rekt is bypassing the filter it doesn't matter how he or she say it they are still breaking a rule.
