If you download the official server software supplied by Mojang, you can't rod other players, only mobs. Instead, if you download for example a bukkit server and run it, you can rod others even without installing any plugins. Same with snowballs, eggs and ender pearls. At least that's how it was the last time I checked.
Vanilla registers the hit. Without hit reg, bukkit won't deal kb. At least that's how it was last time I checked.

Hmm, I think that vanilla has never even registered the hit. People just think that it has been removed due to the fact that if they aren't on a snapshot they are always playing on a bukkit server so they don't even have a clue that it does not exist in vanilla and when they play on a snapshot they think that the knockback was removed due to the update, which I think is false.

The PvP Gameplay would get boring if changes were not made to it over the course of time.It's the same with League of Legends.

@MasterGberryleague just managed to fuck it up, it requires no strategy whatsoever now lol, let's hope minecraft won't be the same
but tbh by removing rod and making fns able to just be in off han they are kinda making it brainless / skill less
