So i heard that in 1.9 we cant hit players with rods… (now read the title too lazy to spell it again)

Well in 1.8 survival this has already been added but Pvp servers usually add scripts/plugin to allowed it to hit @AllAboutGh0st

You never could hit people with rod in vanilla. It's the server which allows it.
