Think about it the new pvp mechanics could have good benefits have you tryed the snaphshot mybe you will love it,badlion will have 1.7 server and probably everyone will play it actualy with the dual handing the pvp mechanics could be cool just the hit coldown is stupid other things like shields seem good.Give it a chance we will see how it is when its relesed.

Maybe it will add new strategy with timing rather than mindlessly clickingPosted on 20 August 2015 - 03:10 AM

Minecraft will become some shit like WoW, but with the ability to build and destroy, if i wanted to play something like that i simple buy CubeWorld or other game like that, i liked the idea of Shields, the dual wield and the new arrows, but this shit of timing click i dont

This effectively kills trigger bots and autoclickers if there isn't a way to hack a full swing thoughPosted on 20 August 2015 - 04:23 AM
It also rules out legit players who jitter clickPosted on 20 August 2015 - 04:33 AM

Pretty sure in almost any real PvP game the amount you spam click does not determine the better player. Go take a look at any serious eSports game and tell me that spamming clicks determines the better player.

im pretty sure that the most important thing is a good aim and nice reflexes, and of course hacks… JK

Maybe you're right, but minecraft isn't a rts or any other heavily played eSport game. Minecraft is special in its own way, just like pre eoc runescape was. Anybody who has ever played rs can tell you that eoc killed the game.
Sure no other game determines skill by whoever can click a mouse the fastest, but that doesn't mean it is a bad game, nor does it mean that it is not a "real pvp" game. It's unique, and you make that out as a bad thing.
you're comparing apples and oranges, and it's making you look bad. Minecraft is successful because of what it is, and mojang changing everything that they are… Evolution of combat all over again.
Ima make a (kinda) tldr because I butchered that
What makes minecraft pvp minecraft pvp is the spam clicking, the aim, the hotkeying, etc.
This was never a pvp update, it was a combat update. A combat update that just happened to completely fuck up the pvp portion of the game.
Gberry is also being really (to quote Andy Dufresne) obtuse.

In some ways i agree with the new cool down method. However we are used to minecraft how it is/was for a very long time click has been like this since Alpha (I believe) and now their only just changing it? . Mojang are just running out of things to do/add to minecraft so their already changing the pre-existing mechanics of the game.Posted on 20 August 2015 - 10:58 AM

Comparison to Runescape is so true. I loved that game pre EOC.

There goal with this update is to actually try and get the game closer to a serious PvP game. They are going about it the right way. I am actually looking forward to the 1.9 update if they keep doing things like this. If they can solve latency with some smart packet predictions, than the game would be getting close to an actual competitive game. Right now it definitely is not in a state to be labeled as an eSport.

I agree. But I think I could get used to it, and It adds a bit of more strategy to the game.Posted on 21 August 2015 - 01:22 AM

You're probably right, but I just can't see myself getting behind this update.
Shields, poisoned arrows, new potion mechanics, and now this new timing… It just seems like a completely new game to me, one that just doesn't appeal to me. I won't try and force this on anybody else, but I most likely will be staying on 1.7 unless major changes are made.

Imo, alot of players say they hate stuff from snapshots right when they come out and don't think about it after until a update comes. For EX:
1.6: HORSES?!??! THERE TOO OP!!! 1!!! 1!
*1.6 comes out* Oh wait UHC Hosts can disable them, COOL UPDATE!!!!
1.7: WTF IS THIS HIT DETECTION AND SPRINT BUTTON?!?!?!? PVP IS GONNA BE SO EASY NOW!1!!!
*1.7 comes out* Wait this is a cool update
There's probably a way to disable the anti-spam bar probably by coding in a plug-in, and Dinnerbone has said that there just adding things atm there nowhere near being Balanced/ready, 1.8 took a year to come out with over 30 snapshots, 1.9 has only had 4.
What I'm saying is to just wait, who knows what will be in the real update. (Also since the Mojang team is getting death threats cause of this update they might end up removing it)

tl;drMore strategy less autoclicker more skill
Less simplicity
Your welcome

Would be interesting to see how Mojang handles this. They might make it all client-sided and therefore prone to hacks, or make it all server-sided where the data can be modified, or make it client-sided with server-sided checks which would act as a safety in case somebody tried hacking the game. meh
