Could Badlion make a server in Asia?Badlion is an awesome server. I especially like to play the hunger games on this server. However, I live in South Korea, which explains my problem with this server. In South Korea, the wifi is great everywhere. I have a wifi router right next to me when I play, so wifi isn't the problem here. It's ping that annoys me. I always have 200+ ping which isn't good on a competitive server like Badlion. This is usually the case for all Asian players. Though I like this server, I haven't been able to win many games just because of my ping. I would be satisfied with any ping under 100.
You may be wondering why I'm asking for a server when there are a few Asian servers in the world. First of all, there aren't many Asian servers, which is becoming a problem. Many of these servers are private, so I can't join anyway. Secondly, most (if not all) Asian servers are bad. Most of them have 200+ just because of the server quality and the games are not enjoyable because of the unskilled players on those servers. I know that there have been other threads on this topic, but I am quite serious about suggesting a Badlion server located in Asia, preferably Eastern Asia but other locations in Asia would be fine too. In this post, I will show you the advantages of an Asian server.
Sometimes, people who aren't from Asia tell me to deal with the situation. They think it's okay to play with 200+ ping. These are some of the things they've said to me.
"Toughen up, it's possible to win." Not really, since Badlion is competitive. When your fishing rod, bow and sword register late, there isn't a big chance of you winning a fight, no matter how geared you are. Of course, I could just play, but that would make it unenjoyable because other players would have an advantage over me. When I lived in Canada, I won many games on many different servers, so it's not my skill that causes this problem.
"You can get away with playing on EU or NA." This is wrong, especially for players in East Asia. We are furthest away from Badlion servers (other than in the Arctic) and I experience extreme bow and fishing rod delay. I figured out that my ping was bad by playing on EU and NA servers. I would like to suggest a solution to this problem rather than just deal with it and ruin the experience.
"There aren't enough people to play on these servers." Maybe this statement comes from the fact that not many Asian players play on Badlion. This is because Asia has bad ping and I am surprised to see that they haven't realized this. If there were Asian servers, Asian players that didn't play on the NA/EU servers will play on this server. Asia has the biggest population in the world. I'm sure there'll be a sufficient amount of players if we spread the news. Also, Minecraft is quite popular in East Asia. Korea, Japan, and South East Asian countries such as the Philippines and Singapore all enjoy Minecraft.
"There is a language barrier." Many of the countries in Asia learn English. It's a hard task for them, but most players can recognize simple words at least, such as 'Hunger Games' and 'Factions'. If they can't, they'll simply use Google translate or some other translating tool. Though most Asian players can't speak fluent English, it won't be necessary to translate everything on the server.
I'm not asking for much. I'm only requesting a few servers around Asia. If more people get to join the server, then we should increase the amount of servers. After all, Asia has a big population. I'm sure Badlion will have enough money to support this server well once more people know about Asian servers. I really hope that the staff of Badlion and the owner can agree with me on this and make just a few Badlion servers in Asia. This has always been a favourite server of mine and I'd like to play it in Asia too.

Badlion can try to add smaller server for asia with 100 slots or so.Posted on 04 September 2015 - 01:18 PM
@Hobskey that would be a bit unfair to only let 100 people allowed on the asian servers. Also, some EU people would consider playing on the asian servers if the location is in western or central asia. The server should be a normal 750 person arenapvp server.Posted on 04 September 2015 - 01:53 PM
I do not think the Asian player base is currently big enough for a full 750 player server. Australian servers were expected to have much more players…Posted on 04 September 2015 - 02:01 PM
what ping do you get to AU servers?Posted on 04 September 2015 - 06:22 PM

I get 250+ ping to AU servers, which is worse.
As I've said in my first post, Asia has a big population. Korea alone has twice the population of Canada. And yet, Canada has more servers. I don't think the number of people will matter if we wait it out and other people get to know this server. I'm fine about having 100 people per server, but since Asia is so big, there should be a few servers around Asia so that nobody is left out.

I don't think that stretching the network further with the addition of Asian servers would be plausible as Badlion cannot support such a small portion of the community with multiple servers as you suggest. Maybe in the future it could be a possibility if more players were interested and Badlion grows more, but I don't think at this moment in time it would be good to do.

Sorry, made a post by mistake.Posted on 05 September 2015 - 07:09 AM
Replying to Will:I understand what you're saying. I think one or two small servers should be fine though. However, if there is going to be only one server, the best decision would be to host it in East Asia since Minecraft is popular in many East Asian countries such as Japan and Singapore. East Asian players are the most desperate for a better server. If the server is hosted in the Middle East, people in East Asia will have the same ping as before. Middle Eastern players can probably get decent ping from the EU servers, but East Asians can't.

I personally get 250ms to NA and 280 to AU, but I've come to the point where I'm so used to having bow delay it's natural for me. I would+1 but I don't see anything happening.
