I know 100% Minecraft knockback is random, as for Badlion knockback, I can't be 100% but from past experience in fight on arena pvp, I can fight someone and take next to no KB in the fight, but then in another I'd get knocked back 3+ blocks. I didn't make this post to start an argument and still don't want one, you shouldn't be taking offense / getting defensive about what I've said. If you're not going to change Skywars, then I took the time to write this post for nothing and it should just be left.Once again, thanks for the read.

You clearly are not reading my posts here. I did not say we are not changing anything about the ladder. I am looking for valid suggestions, most of which yours are not valid.
Knockback is not random, connections and latency's vary. Once again knockback at it's core is not random. Sharpness, unbreaking, and power are random. Knockback is not.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. I also think we should all start with the same kit, but make us open a chest and get it out first at the beginning of every game to make it seem more authentic
I also agree with less projectiles and maybe slightly closer islands

You don't understand what Gberry is telling you lol. Knockback itself without any other variables is not random. If anyone you asked could read Java code, then they would clearly see that it's not random. There are tons of things that affect knockback before knockback itself is applied. There's even an attribute called generic.knockbackResistance that you can set for entities that dampens the knockback effect. Knockback itself is random.

We want to do something with the middle island as well, haven't decided on everything yet.
Once again stressing that a full SkyWars game mode will be out soon, and we do not want to try and compete with it on the Arena server. If you want to play SkyWars you go there, if you want to practice the mechanics of it you go onto the Arena server.

As I have just read this entire thread, I'm slightly disappointed in seeing that not much will be done to change this ladder. Personally, I agree with DjSprayK in that this entire ladder should be removed. It is really based on more luck than skill and I have always thought of skywars as a minigame. To me, this is not competitive PvP at all, just something I play on Hypixel when I'm bored. In addition, I am most annoyed because its going to fuck over global elo for a lot of competitive players, like myself. Looking at the top global players already, the majority of their losses lie in skywars. Just judging by that itself can portray the fact that skywars may be more luck based. In addition, at least personally, many people that I have talked to since the start of season 10 feel like it should only be an event and not a ladder. Arrows are also random, let's REMOVE THEM TOO!Also DJ, show me where in the code it calls .random() in relation to KB. Until you can, please do not say it's random. Take two players. If you hit player 2 in the exact same circumstances, the KB will always be the same every time you do it.
If you say its random again without a code segment that proves it's random, I'm going to ban you from the forums.

And as for the people saying this ladder revolves around luck, please explain the top 20 of skywars having better W/L ratio compared to the top 20 of BuildUHC (which a lot of you consider to be the highest skill ladder). If there was no luck, the top player should have 0 losses minus hackers, which is not the case. Minecraft has luck built into it, just like League, CSGO, SC2, etc. It's all about making your skill minimize the effect of luck on you and making adjustments when you get unlucky compared to your opponent.What you meant to say is "I can't play void, I just want to hurr durr sword rush like my favorite UHC tryhard does"
Get over it, the ladder represents the core of skywars. First to mid in actual skywars minigame typically wins if you factor out the randomness of chests and getting cleaned up. Until you guys can give me ideas on how to change it while keeping the factors of how skywars pvp actually works, it's staying as is (no hurr durr it's bad).

people that are high on horse ladder are very good at horse pvp, it's a very specific skill to know how far a horse will be, and having to deal with the wierd way shooting on a horse works (having to adjust aim)
