so i tried to change my ip (due to ddoss problems :/)not to long ago, my router has this "reset" button and i clicked it, router went off, and when it came back i had a new ip.
but after a while it changed back to my old ip? wot. i called my provider and they said something about my ip being only for my router and to change it, the router has to be offline for 48 hours or some bullshit like that.

they really didn't seem to have a clue on what they were talking about, so any ideas from here?

how do i prevent my ip from going back to my old when i have changed it?

Reset the router again? Or buy a new router?

Keep in mind your Internet service provider dictates your public IP address used for Internet access, which makes it damn near impossible to change without the help of your ISP.



you can always disconnect your modem for an extended duration in the hopes of an automatic reset.
