How to write a good application!
Hello everyone!

To get staff. This isn't very easy at all, and you are going to need some help. Well, wait no further people, as I am very willing to help anyone in need. In fact, I am currently going for staff myself, and it is my highest priority to help the BadLion community as much as possible. So, lets get started.

Things you should have in general before applying:

- A good reputation:

You should not have a bad image in the community. Even if you are not known by everyone, your background should reflect good and helpful things upon you. To build a good reputation, you can do all of the things I mentioned before. Such as helping the community, coming up with suggestions for the server, making guides to help other members ect.

- A type of a communication software:

Not all servers need this, however it is a great thing to have. It is a quick and easy way to get to know other people, and you can be contacted in case there is any emergencies, or if there is anything that is needed to be dealt with by a member of staff.

- Knowledge of the basic staff commands:

Requirements for an good application:

For your application to get accepted, there are a few requirements that it should meet before being submitted. These are listed below.

- Detail: This is the most likely reason your app will get rejected. The server recruiters will reject you on this basis, if you did not supply enough information about yourself and your qualifications. When writing your app, make sure you tell the server as much as possible! Also remember, quality always beats quantity. The server recruiters don't want to see too much text in your app, that doesn't really tell them anything. Make sure not to repeat your points, or waste 1000 words on your football hobby and only 10 on your moderator experience. The staff team likes applications with just enough content to get your point across, but with great quality in that content!

Communication:

- Grammar: All servers requires that you have an excellent understanding of the English language. Servers value strong vocabularies and correct grammar when you are communicating, not only with the server, but also with our players, partners and visitors.

- Maturity: This is one of the most important components needed in a staff member. Staff on all servers have extremely high responsibilities, and without maturity, they will not be able to do the tasks that they are assigned to. Maturity is also required in dealing with tough or controversial situations. You can't always just be happy and kind, sometimes you have to put your focus face on!

- Knowledge: Servers will reject players if they lack knowledge. If they do not know the punishment guidelines, or the rules, there is absolutely no point in accepting them. You need to have a basic understanding of the server, the day-to-day life of the players, their concerns and needs. All-in-all you need to know what servers do, and how they go about accomplishing their goals.

Getting Rejected:

- The biggest mistake people make when they get rejected, is getting discouraged or making a big deal about it. Getting rejected, isn't actually too bad at all. View getting rejected, as getting a chance to improve even more. If you handle getting rejected maturely, then you are most likely have a better chance of getting accepted on your next app.

- Focus on the area's that you are weakest on. If you lack in being patient, then try doing things that require great patience. If you work on this everyday, then you are surely to improve on it greatly. If you have more than one weakness, then write it down on a Word Document or something. Then, you can work on each one and cross it out when you believe you've made it very strong.

- Getting rejected can be a very disappointing moment to undergo. Even at the hardest of times, you need to keep your head up! You're going to be better off being in a positive mind state, than just being discouraged and glum. If you are positive and you keep your head up, then you will be able to strive towards your goal easier. Remember that the recruiter/s will get a lot of applications a day, and only a few will be accepted.

Do's and Don't's:

Do's:

DO use correct grammar and spelling while writing your application!

DO ask questions! Don't be afraid to ask, if you don't know something!

DO join in on discussions! It can help you know everyone in the community, and it can show a good background about you.

DO know the rules before applying!

DO read the questions asked on the forums. Try to answer them if you can!

DO spend as much time as possible on the server!

DO be honest about anything that is complicated. If there is something you don't know, then make sure to ask another member of staff!

DO be sure to remain confident and positive! The process isn’t easy, but it a very good experience that you will remember forever.

DO follow the rules!

DO be active on the forums and in game, talk with anyone you meet, and get to know the community!

DO try your hardest. Commitment is the number one quality for staff.

DO be friendly and chat with whoever want's to speak with you!

Don't's:

DO NOT ask any staff to mark your application! This show's a lack of patience in your personality.

DO NOT let anyone assist in making your application. It's good to look at other people's applications to get idea's, but don't let people actually help you when writing it.

DO NOT think that it will be an easy journey, being staff requires a lot of commitment and hard work.

DO NOT lie. Lying will only make you feel guilty, and it will lessen your chances of being accepted.

I've done all of these tips. What do I do now?

- Put your whole application into a type of document. (Such as Word.). This allows you to come back to improve your application any time, and it can't get lost if your internet browser closes while you are writing it.

- Just be patient. It can take ages for your application to be marked, so try not to ask staff to mark it. It will end up in a instant denial, anyway.

- The most important. Have fun!

Now, go and write an application if you feel like applying for staff! If you feel that I have made a mistake anywhere, feel free to comment what I did wrong. Good luck!

Thanks!

@Coula SO many people may need this - this is extremely helpful - you may not need this because you were a staff member already.

Very nice

You don't really need to know much about commands/hosting really though, I had no experience and I got hired

I also agree "Do not get discouraged if you get denied" I did this for arena but I still got SG so ayy lmao

Ah ok. Thanks for the tips.
