Okay, this is something that's been bugging me for the past few months, and I just got un-forum banned so I can now make a thread on this.Saying something is "AIDS" or "cancer" is not in the slightest bit appropriate, and I'll touch on that later, but what's scarier is that the community & staff have simply accepted the use of "AIDS" and "cancer" in posts and IG. I don't understand the mentality behind this - punishments are issued for derogatory terms, and in context, "AIDS" and "cancer" are essentially derogatory terms. I would like the community/administration to do something about this, and for people to stop simply accepting that what people say is appropriate.
AIDS is not something to joke about. It's a very serious thing, okay? It may seem funny to immature kids that people can get diseases as a result of having sex with someone, but it's disrespectful. How many of you would say that IRL?
I reserve a scathing hatred in my heart for people who make fun of cancer. Cancer is, by definition, "A disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue." THERE IS NO OTHER CONTEXT OR MEANING. Because of this, it's extremely disrespectful to those who have sadly passed away from cancer or are managing with it now. Don't use it for describing petty problems - think about how what you're saying can affect others. I have a close relative with breast cancer rn, and so this really strikes a nerve with me.

We do punish people who say stuff along the lines of "you're aids dude" or "i hope ur mum gets cancer" but if someone just says the word, not meaning to offend anyone then most of the times they won't get punished for it.Posted on 19 October 2015 - 09:29 AM
Its fucking mineraft, a video game designed like virtual legos. I play video games to relax and have fun, and every day with people getting butthurt about some stupid shit that gets taken away more and more. there should be limits on what you do – but only to a certain extent. This. You never have true freedom of expression or speech - the owner of a property can restrict what you are able to do and a movie theatre can restrict your freedom of speech - it's like communism, good in concept, not perfect in execution

According to the US Constitution (and considering Badlion is hosted in the USA), every human has the inherent right to free speech* – but lets not get into laws.
Certainly it could 'bring back bad memories', but lets be honest. If you have issues over chat in a minecraft game, you have 3 clear options.
A. /report (assuming they're breaking rules) then /ignore
- You never see that person again, and perhaps you will get them punished.
B. Turn off your chat
- You don't see hateful comments. Then again you don't see anything, but hey, you could always /ignore. You don't have to ruin your own experience because of what one person says.
C. Move servers
- Go play elsewhere, although this will possibly weaken your game experience, its your loss. Just /ignore them.
Furthermore, you have a flawed logic.
ANYTHING can bring up bad memories. It doesn't have to be something that could be taken as derogatory. (like cancer)
* This is a massive grey area in law. Its technically unconstitutional but then again who gives a fuck? its minecraft lmao.
