Hey everyone.So today our hosting company OVH what is known as a fiber cut with their data center in North America. A fiber cut is exactly what it sounds like, when a fiber line gets cut. Apparently there was some construction near a bridge and they accidentally cut the fiber lines to the datacenter. This completely shut down all traffic between the data center and Newark, New Jersey. This is a huge and important connection as most of our North American traffic and a lot of the European traffic go through this location and use this internet line.
OVH had plans for a few months now to increase the capacity of these lines with some other ISPs. Today they in a rush effort to try and get the data center online have activated some of these new lines that were planning to be released soon anyways. Unfortunately the main lines are still down as of right now, and the data center is being heavily hit with more traffic than it can handle. Hopefully over the next few hours they can repair the fiber cut and get the datacenter up to full capacity.
As a result of this downtime today and the ongoing issues we have been having in EU (which should be solved by the end of the week) we are going to have Unlimited Ranked Matches on all of the ArenaPvP servers this weekend. This should help everyone get in some extra time on the servers for those of you who have not been able to play today, or properly for the past couple of weeks in EU. Also we will be running a 20% sale on our Donation store to allow those of you who are looking to buy a rank to save a little bit of money.
As of right now all of the EU proxies are online, half of the NA proxies are online, and our AU proxy is online. Due to the DC capacity problem at the moment things might be a bit slower than normal. Give it a few hours, hopefully everything will be online soon.
