You guys seem to completely disregard the purpose of staff members.
As MasterGberry said, if the interests of both the server and the staff member conflict, then that staff member will be demoted.
What does that mean? Well, it means that they're relieved of their position as a volunteer.
As a staff member of the Badlion Network, you're expected to showcase exemplary behavior consistently. When staff members are associating themselves with players who purposely cheat and violate the rules of our server, not only does it send a terrible message, but it reflects poorly on Badlion too. The staff member completely dismisses any apprehension and disregards the impact of their image and influence.
Maybe a better question you should be asking is how great of a friend that is who is willing to compromise your position in order to cheat on the network.
Yes. If a staff member chooses to publicly associate themselves with groups cheaters and those who evade their punishments to persist in their commitment of violating our rules, we certainly will demote that staff member.
This is completely disregarding everything besides for the suggestion that they're friends.
Staff members are allowed to have friends. They are people.
However, as stated above, they will be demoted if they choose to associate themselves with blacklisted players.
We are not banning them. We are not slandering their name.
We're simply relieving them from a position of authority.
I don't see how this even got this far. It's not a question of having friends, it's a question of an influential authority associating themselves with blacklisted players. If they are found guilty in that regard, they will be demoted.

I feel like this rule is forcing you to choose who to be friends with. NOONE can tell ANYONE who to and who not to be friends with.

You're absolutely right. However, we can strip their rank. When you become a staff member, you're required to read and agree with numerous conditions.
If you want to remain friends with said blacklisted person, by all means, go ahead.

Honestly I thought the bigger issue with staff being "associated" with ip banned players was not the server's reputation, but the risk that comes along with a hacker who has been banned many times getting a kind of "loophole" into the server. Think about it, if you are friends with someone who has been banned it could (I'm not saying it definitely would) affect what you do if you have influence on the staff team. You could accept appeals that shouldn't be accepted, you could see them alting in-game and not do anything, hell, you could see them hacking in-game and not do anything. Just because of bias. Again I'm not saying you would do that, but the staff team is pretty big, and theres no way of knowing what some staff members would do if presented with choice to either keep on good terms with their friend or protect the server. So its better to just remove the choice altogether, right?
Just my onion.

I didn't know you had an onion. @salmonbear98
