Stop Letting Frustration Get The Best Of You
Alright, so I play a lot of BuildUHC which is currently by far the most played ladder on the server. Me being a 1700, will go up against 1800's and 1900's and higher. I really like challenges, and of course I am going to have to try a bit harder to beat these players. However, there is a problem where sometimes whenever I do beat them, they msg me saying I am bad, or eZ, and I should stop playing, and I got lucky, etc.

Let me tell you a story…

So earlier today, I went up against a 1900 named Dereo. I'll admit, he was a better player than me. However, I did manage to win the match. I wouldn't say it was by luck, but perhaps he just made the wrong decisions. Anyways, after the match he messaged me saying I am a shit player and I bowspammed him (which actually isn't true..) so I agreed with him. I said I know I am a bad player and that I was sorry for my "annoying" playing style. So he messaged me back saying it wasn't annoying, it was just stupid. Then, I apologized again and he told me to stfu. At this point I was really confused, and then I realized he ignored me. I was like wtf?

This is just an example of some of these people, and trust me, this isn't the only encounter I've gotten. Honestly, I'm not even sure why I apologized. I did nothing wrong. Anyways, I understand that you people with higher ELO will get frustrated when you lose and sometimes tell the other person they got lucky or tell them they're shit, but honestly, that isn't the solution. Just get over it and earn the ELO back. I always deal with losing to 1400's, but I don't tell them they're bad because they beat me, I just tell them they're good for their ELO, or compliment them on their skills. Is it that hard? By the way, I understand that there is a /ignore command, but I just think that it shouldn't have to be like that.

Also, Dereo if you're reading this, in no means am I trying to make you look bad. I know you're probably a cool guy and you're not an ass. Just sometimes frustration gets the best of us and we blame other people. Just next time try to control it.

Ok, youre mostly correct. 99% of 1900+ players get incredibly salty when they lose, to a point where they make death threats. But heres what I have to say.

Once you get to 1900, you will learn that you earn very little ELO per match, about 6 ELO on average. Its OK though, unless you are consistently fucking up against low ELO players. HOWEVER, ive noticed this with 1600s - 1700s especially, in unranked 1v1s, ranked 1v1s, ranked 2v2s, you name it. They do ANYTHING for a win. They will camp a tree when no staff are on, they will trap you in lava, and the most infuriating thing they do is BOW YOU BACK AND DONT ALLOW MELEE. Its SO fucking irritating, and people do this in hosted UHCs too, which is why ive quit hosted. They just run and run and run, turning around every 5 seconds to bow you or fns, and you just want to tear your hair out. Back to the topic; Some people dont CARE if you lose ELO that youve worked on for hours. Some people dont CARE if they dont put up a good fight. They just want to grab your ELO, and to rub it in, sometimes they will message you 'eZ' or related.

So to conclude: This is why high ELO players rage when they lose, its something theyve worked hard on and it can just go down the drain in an instant.

I understand what it's like to be in that situation. When I was at my prime (2000 ELO) I got drained to 1800 all the time. It wasn't fun, but I made a goal to get back up to 2000. It gave me something to do. But yes, I do agree that some lower ELO players will do absolutely anything to get rid of your ELO. I am a competitive player, and I understand that higher ELOs do work hard to get where they are, but I am still going to try to win. Not to the point where I'm chokepointing and bowspamming them off a hill, but I will give it all I have to beat them. However, I do agree with most of what you're saying.

i once shot 5 arrows at a guy at the beginning of the match which is normal and he told me to stop being a faggot and fight

People are pathetic, not much we can do about it other than ignore them. But honestly this needs to stop, these people are getting quite annoying for the community as a whole.

Even I get frustrated even though I have awful elo >.< but yeah I agree with you, it's sad that people literally tell people to end their lives and are so disrespectful to them over virtual server points, but at the end of the day you'll be doing the right thing by just ignoring them. :)

Some guy messaged me today something along the lines of: 'hahaha noob lava spammer lololol'

I laughed, but didn't reply to him cos I knew it would just turn into a stupid, unnecessary argument, which is what happens most of the time sadly.

@Dizzee Yeah exactly, and what I found pretty funny was that he ignored me afterwards. xD As if that makes sense haha. He basically did it for me. :D

@RealSportsFan You probably did the right thing honestly. May as well just not talk to them and let them deal with their frustration themselves, because it seems like even if you're nice to them they are still insulting you lol.

I know losing elo is really frustrating. Tbh, I'm not that kind of player who plays for elo and stuff. I just want to play for fun, that's what minecraft (and pvp) is supposed to offer me (in my opinion). I get mad quite often because of rodders and people who don't care about having an actual GOOD fight. Sometimes I lose because people kill me while lagging, or because I am stuck at the spawnpoint (they could hit me once, get me unstuck and have a proper fight). People seem to be forgetting that this game should be fun, whether you're aming for 2000 elo or not. And since not everyone fights the same way, we can't tell someone not to use their bow,not to pregap or stuff like that. I have to deal with rodders, even if it is a pretty cheap way of getting hits and wombocombos. I get over it. I don't need to insult someone, I don't need to get mad AT HIM and let him know. It's not like you'll get you precious elo back. If you get mad, just say "FUCK YOU KID,RODSPAMMER,BOWSPAMMER BLOCKHITTER" irl,not in the chat. You just make the whole server look bad. If you want a nice and welcoming community,YOU need to start being nice and kind FIRST! You'll just make it worse if you keep insulting via chat every person you fight. I understand it takes ages to get elo after a certain point, but that doesn't mean you need to let everyone know how mad you are.
I admit I have sent many pms ingame, saying "Why the rodspam" and stuff. I've never told anyone to kill themselves, hackusated or any sort of very bad and poor sportsmanship. I know what I can tell people and what I should keep for myself.
Remember you are supposed to HAVE FUN. PvP is fun, people like the one you mentioned just ruin it a little bit. Would badlion be alive if everyone acted that way? I don't think so. This community needs to stay nice and peaceful to survive. In the past 3 days, I've muted more than 100 players for hackusations, some for random disrespect and a few for racism and death threats. Like what the hell?! How can this server, and this community, survive if we keep acting like this?
If you are aiming for a high elo,and lose to a 1400/1500/1600 and so on, why do you need to WASTE your time insulting someone? You might say "That's what I really feel I need to do when I am mad". Really? You won't make it any better, you'll just ruin someone else's day on the server, you'll make it worse for youself because the guy could make fun of you and, most important, you'll ruin the community feel servers like badlion need.
Remember, having fun =/= winning every game. Sometimes you might lose because you take bad decisions, press the wrong key etc. Most of the times it is your fault, deal with it.
Some of you might not agree, I know, but please don't kill me ;n;

I get very salty after losing a ranked match, to the point where I find any strategy or technique that helps the other guy outplay me to be very scummy. It's frustrating, of course, but nothing good comes of being toxic. I learned that the long, hard, unnecessary way. Either get back to work and get the elo back or take a break.

@Nicosby I definitely agree with you here.

@Hivlik Honestly, I've been the same way too. I've realized that it gets you absolutely nowhere and it always ends up making me look stupid.
