Build UHC Strats?
What are yalls strats for Build? I see some people build bases, some lava and run, some bow spam the crap outta me, and others who just yolo rush. Do you guys eat a gapple before you go in for the fight? Or at the very beginning when you spawn? If you do eat a gapple, is it a head or a norm gap just for the absorption hearts?

Personally, I eat a head right before the fight for the regen and gapple hearts and lava them if possible.

Just curious about your strategies so I can get better. (if you check my profile I SUCK at PVP and my ELO's are all less than 1600 so bad ik)

I usually pregap for the extra hearts, and then bow for a while. After that,if the opponent is getting too close, I just rush him and try to do sprint-reset thing. I use lava a lot,but I don't spam it.

Being below 1600 is nothing to be embarrassed about

I'm nothing special but typically how I play is different depending on the person but these are just a few things I do.

Normally I'll bow them down at the start purely to be an ass, to get them a bit annoyed. Then if they gap and melee rush I just hold them off with the bow as long as I can until they're lower than me then go for a melee exchange.
Typically if I drop below around 5 hearts and they're not a one/two hit (which typically you can gauge by the hits you got) I back out of a fight in one of three ways:
- block hit to get them to take decent kb, and double rod them and eat a ghead.
- Lava them, and run (may need to rod them back if they're quick with water)
- Turn and block spam below you and then you should take big kb but on occasion they can get a double, even triple hit on you and make you very low

Then from that first exchange you can work out if they're better than you at melee, if they are just try and stick to bow and drain their healing out. Then try and lava them each time they come in for melee so you can get an extra couple of hits. If they're worse than you at melee, then just try and beat them in melee. If someone is significantly better than you at bow, just block up and be patient and get them to melee you. It only takes one exchange where they miss time a jump crit, or miss a rod and you can easily kill someone better than you so just try and play it patiently and intelligently.

The easiest way to lose to someone low ELO is them getting you stuck in lava, blocking peoples lava is huge to avoid upsets. A lot of the time I allow people to lava me so I can water right below me and remove their lava from the game. Those extra couple of hits they got you can easily even out with 3 landed bow shots so it's not a big deal. I rarely use lava initially unless I'm desperate, I only use it to get away from people or midfight I'll place it behind them with a quick hot key switch to hit them into it.

A general tip, hot keying is huge for things like rods and lava, so if you can't do it currently, practice.

I've gone from being an 1.8k to a 2k just purely from getting better with the bow, it's a lot more important than most people realise. https://www.badlion.net/match/kitpvp/7188815 that was the fight that got me 2k. It has no relevance but I just love seeing that half a heart ;)

My strat for killing peeps
1. Pre-Gap
2. Wait for charge
3. Hopefully out-combo them
4. They run, build a wall, and gap
5. I rod the opposite side of the wall that I go
6. Ambush and hopefully win

Or this happens…….
3. Fail 2 combo
4. I run
5. Chug 1 head
6. lava then fight

And hopefully that kills them

I have an annoying, yet effective playstyle.
Start of fight:
I usually don't pregap, I shoot the player and see if they have any absorp, if they don't I go in, and try to get a rod combo. If that doesn't work, I place down water while running and eat a gap and continue.

Mid fight: By mid fight I mean like 1-2 heads maybe, and like 3 gapples. I try to not use heads when I'm able to. If a player has 2 or less hearts than me, and they're at 6 or under I'll eat a gapple. If they are 1 or less hearts less than me, I eat a head if I think they did too.

End fight: If you're on your last gap etc, try going into the corner, and as they rush you get them in the corner so it's hard to run away and try to kill them there. If you can't, try getting them in lava if you have any and if you don't, just completely rush in, and keep attacking.

I'm also both a defensive and offensive player. This is easier said than done, but I've gotten used to it, but try to know when to go in offensively or defensively. That, you'll have to figure out yourself, because it'll be your playstyle. Anyway, if you need to play defensive, what I do is rod them until you can hit them and you got the last rod too, and after getting a 2 or so hit combo, run back a bit and continue doing that until you can go in offensively. My friend Cxlvxn does this well (https://www.youtube.com/user/CalthekidFTW).
If I'm playing offensively, I'd rush in, try to get the last rod and combo them, and if you know you got more hits get even closer so if they turn around to run, you'll get a few more hits while they're running. I don't reccomend that unless you're trying to quickdrop a player since it can be really risky, especially if they're blockhitting.
Thats really all I can think of rn, hope it helps :P @xXCaptainSpikeXx

some players are crazy good at rod and it carries their entire game. Learn to do that well and you'll be a powerful player.

@xXCaptainSpikeXx "Chugging" is were you eat all or a least many of your gapples so that way you don't die when you're being attacked.

@*deleted-88860 thanks but youre really good and everyone is so much better.. How do you get all the rod combos? I can rod pvp but I can barely get more than 3 hit combos. And whenever I drain someone above 1600, they always make excuses about how i killed them and to go f myself cri.

thx

Yes. @xXCaptainSpikeXx

@Sweatmas wouldn't they kill you by the time you ate enough gaps?
 0
PM Link
@xXCaptainSpikeXx The point of chugging is so that you can stay alive for a little bit more and also so the attacking player can't get your gapps

@Sweatmas oh, ok so they cant benefit from your death in 2v2s thanks

I use the same strat over and over, it works

I found out when I started playing this ladder competitively that I had naturally good rod aim, so what I do is I just pregap at the start and melee rush. If they bow me back, I wall up. I RARELY lava, in fact my way to deal with lava is just to water below me as soon as they lava, it means I dont waste time blocking lava and they run out of it. I suggest only bowing when in pursuit of a player that you KNOW is at a heart or less, its pointless having tedious bow fights. Blockhitting helps a lot, you can get mad combos on any player if you blockhit regularly, and also strafing a bit is also useful in BuildUHc

Rodding tips: Dont tryhard on the rod aim, it will just send the rod miles off. Just try to judge where the player will go before ou rod, WITHOUT spending too long trying to aim it.
Bowing: Bows are the root of all evil just burn your bow in lava before the match then say a few prayers to rid yourself of its satanic prescence.
Melee: Blockhit, a-d strafe
Lava: Only useful for burning bows. Once you have burned the bow burn the lava.

Good luck :)
