Official Season 11 Patch Notes
Hey everyone. Beta is opening on Tuesday morning (Pacific time zone) when I wake up and turn the beta on for EU (NA will come on later in the day). Probably somewhere around 17:00 UTC is my guess based on when I normally wake up around.

EDIT: Due to some features needing some small tweaks and the map not being 100% ready yet the beta will be a bit delayed. Probably later in the afternoon for America on Tuesday (Should definitely be live by Wednesday).

I think this season is going to be one of the best seasons for Badlion. This patch has a lot of new features, a lot of clean ups, and a bunch of quality of life updates. Check the full list below:

Upcoming Tournament 5v5

In an effort to continue and promote the competitiveness of Badlion we are working to push for 5v5 competitive clan gameplay starting off of course with our ArenaPvP servers. This coming season there will be a special ladder that will be a 5v5 ranked gameplay ladder that will combine the MCSG and the BuildUHC kits. You will create your party like normal and queue up for this one ladder. When the match is about to begin it will randomly pick either the MCSG or the BuildUHC kit for you to fight with.

This special ladder is in association with Team Flux who is working with Badlion to help promote a more competitive Minecraft gaming environment. Team Flux feels that Badlion should become the home of competitive Minecraft gameplay due to the complicated game modes we put together and the infamous GCheat.

We are proud to announce that Team Flux along with Badlion will be sponsoring at least a 1st Prize of $1000 USD. The planned tournament date at the moment is January 16th. More information about this will come in a later post. This information is subject to change.

Team Death Match

- Drop straight into a battlefield with dozens of players in the classic battle of red vs blue.
- Team Death Matches (TDM's) last 15 minutes and are constantly running on the server.
- Most points at the end of the 15 minutes wins.
- Full statistics will be available on the website including your kills, deaths, and highest kill streak.
- Earn special items depending on the kit for every kill that you get while playing.
- If any leather armor is on the player, it will automatically be colored based on the team color.
- Donator+ are able to choose the team that they join. Regular players are auto-assigned.
- Lion members are able to vote for the kit for the next TDM that will start after the current match ends.

New Maps

Thanks to our build team and goCreative we have a new spawn and a bunch of new arenas for this upcoming season. We will be using some of our old maps as well. Some more specific map changes have been made below:

- SkyWars islands are now 50% closer to the middle island
- Spleef Arenas added
- Spleef FFA Arenas added (for /party ffa)
- BuildUHC FFA Arenas added (for /party ffa)
- TDM Arena added

I can say that I have seen many of these new arenas and they are all amazing. I am really impressed with what the build team has put together.

Ladder Changes

- MCSG Armor is now unbreakable (Unbreaking X)
- Combo Ladder for unranked gameplay. You can attack players up to 7 times a second instead of the normal 2 times a second.
- Spleef Ladder for unranked gameplay. Try to dig your opponent into the void before falling to your doom yourself.
- Tank Ladder is removed.
- Legacy Ladder available for unranked gameplay.
- Added Advanced UHC Ladder to ranked gameplay.
- Horse ladder has the following changes:
—– Horses are 15% slower.
—– Horses have diamond armor now.
—– You cannot dismount from the horse anymore.
—– You cannot heal your horse anymore.
—– More arrows in the kit
- Archer ladder has the following changes:
—– Removed Punch from the bow
—– Speed 2 replaced with Speed 1
—– 3 Ender Pearls added to the kit
—– Damage now based on distance again (sorry bow spammers)


Other New Features

- The special 5v5 ranked ladder we talked about above.
- /help actually works now \o/
- 2v2 Global Ladder. Pick a friend and fight your way to the top of all of the ladders.
- /party promote [name] or /promote [name]
- You can now rate maps at the end of every round. This will help us to filter out the bad maps in each season and improve the builds.
- Unranked gameplay ladders will be cycled every week.

Tweaks

- KOTH time shortened from 30 minutes to 10 minutes
- KOTH point cap lowered from 300 points to 120 points
- ELO resets now sync across the network instantly.
- Ranked messages have been updated to be a bit more colorful and show how much ELO was lost or won
- /rrduel has been replaced with an item in the /duel menu
- All scoreboards have been revamped and updated to be nicer looking
- SG and UHC staff now show in the /list command

Bug Fixes

- Reworked some internal stuff to try and minimize players glitching out and causing random bugs such as items on the floor of an arena etc.
- Fixed broken color names for parties
- Fixed bug with red rover duel breaking in the middle of the match
- Fixed bug with respawning that caused some players to be invisible in events
- Fixed 1.8 tab list to not mess up with KOTH's and Parties

Performance Improvements

In the past couple of weeks I have been working on a bunch of performance improvements for the AreanPvP servers. This is in an effort to minimize random lag spikes caused by TPS, and to smooth out the hit detection. The following components have been re-done recently:

- Tab List was completely revamped. The improved tab list helped minimize server spikes with players joining.
- GPermissions optimized for player logins. When a lot of players try to login at the same time it causes a mini-lag spike on the server. We have smoothed this out.
- Smoothed out the removal of blocks in BuildUHC and the spawn islands in SkyWars
- Lots of optimizations to the core Minecraft engine.

Planned Upcoming Features

A few features didn't make it into season 11 yet. We will be working on these features over the course of the beta and over the next few weeks afterwards. I have also taken the time to mention what is required for each one to be added:

- New Matchmaking system for BuildUHC. The much requested "scan for ELO's" system will be built for the BuildUHC ranked gameplay due to the high number of players in the queue. This system will try to match you against players with a similar ELO to your own. Expect within 1-2 weeks.
- Clan Ladder. The Clan ladder will be used for 5v5 gameplay with clans instead of random groups of players. You will have to create a party with your clan members and then queue up. Every week we will randomly pick a few ladders for clan ladder to use and you will veto until there is only 1 kit left then you will play that kit. There will be one ladder for all kits/gameplay. Expect within 1-2 weeks.
- Revamped FFA Worlds. We have intentions to bring some more fun styled FFA Worlds to season 11. Due to constraints on our time and the network currency not being done yet, we were not able to add these into season 11. These might come later in the season or next season altogether.

Conclusion

Looking back at how much work was done this season, I can safely say this is going to be the best season for ArenaPvP yet. This is probably the most features that we have shoved into one update so far. A HUGE thank you to @SmellyPenguin who has been hard at work adding all of these new features. I really did not touch much of the code for this season except for some code clean ups such as the tab list, the scoreboard fixes, and the optimizations section.

I hope you are all as excited as I am to see this in action. Ladders will be closed for season 10 at 11:59 PM EST on December 11th. Season 11 ladders will open shortly after (we hope) assuming there are no deployment issues.

I like everything but the elo matchmaking cause now I can't drain a randy 2k elo when im only like 1600 which i've done :P I don't like that :/
