RFW/Cannon Ladder
I thought it would be rather cool. I know a lot of you are mainly sword oriented people, but, I think the addition of this ladder would draw in a large number of players. Essentially, the ladder would focus on Bow/Cannon PVP.

People would spawn on two "lanes," about 8 or so Blocks wide, with 16 blocks of separation. They would be given Bows with Unbreaking III, and Infinity (maybe give them an extra bow with Punch?). They would be given ample TNT, Redstone, Buttons, Ladders, and anything else they could use to cannon.

As to what exactly would be a good balance of supplies, I'm not really sure. I'll continue to think about it, and post if I figure anything out.

I'd just grief the other guys redstone and tnt. -1 on this idea, sounds like a minigame more then a ladder.

Please do something like this, cannoning is just as important as swords are to PotPVPers and bows to spam-gods. (Not offensive, bow spamming is actually quite effective. I know because I love to spam it.) While it may not necessarily be direct PvP, I consider it iPvP (Indirect), as you may not be attacking the player, but your cannon is.

On topic:Make sure Barfs are disabled, and create a rule to banish lag-machines.

"16 blocks of seperation"

Easy enough to bow spam someone off. Also, "TG" isn't really possible in a 1v1.

You'd be separated. You wouldn't be able to grief them, only counter cannon them, shoot them, etc.

As much as I'd love a cannoning ladder, I think it'd be really fucking hard to balance it and not make it so easy to just bow down the other guy. Also, I wouldn't want there to be, like, an objective, because now I don't think it's a ladder anymore. Like Burnt said, it'd be more like a minigame at that point. Another problem I see is a guy just making a watered box and sitting in it, waiting out the match. That'd be the most annoying thing you'll ever see. If you work out the kinks, though, that'd be fucking incredible.

Having a cannon and/or building style 1v1 or team fights has been in our sights for awhile, and we actually just made our first change in our server code to head into this idea. There are several things we would need to worry about, such as making sure you can't camp out the match, etc. What ruleset (inf bow, no armor, for example?) We can make bows just do custom damage in specific ladders (like archer), so we can literally do any balance if we can decide on it.

I think it's an interesting idea worth throwing around for a bit. I've already heard a few things that worry me about what would come of this ladder. One of which is this might turn into the "Whiskey Cannon" Ladder. As it is probably one of the easiest, quickest, and most well-known cannons. Also, as others have said being only 16 blocks apart could end up in the situation where one player focuses on building a cannon, while the other just focuses on shooting the other to either annoy/distract him, or kill him. However, this will then lead to people just building walls to counter the bows, but then the bows have been completely removed as an aspect of the ladder. Unless all buttons are wood, which could be an interesting mechanic.

Having posted this and heard the opinion of a few RFW players, I think that that may be the case. Still, from an OCTC perspective, I think having a ladder like this would bring in a lot of players. Lots of people would like to do just that - practice setting up the standard whiskey quickly, while under pressure from an opponent. I can't tell you how many people I think would play this.

Keep in mind that something like this would need a lot of restrictions– players like to find loopholes and would try to abuse such an open/free ladder (Archybgave the specific of camping out a match. People may also have the potential to make lag machines, as well.

This is a decent concept, though. While the idea is too underdeveloped for me to give much feedback on it, this sounds like a cool idea if it gets carried out well. I'm slightly worried that it may just end up being a bow fight with no cannoning involved.

I'd love this to be implemented. Maybe a 2v2 where the first player to destroy the other person's core (I know this sounds like OCTC, but meh) wins. One guy would be bowing the guy down and the other guy would be making the cannon. Or you could try to have two people bowing or two people cannoning. You win by either destroying the enemy party's core/base or killing both of the enemies.

Sounds great, Smelly likes it just like he likes other hard things.

Sounds like a nightmare to balance, but it is a cool idea.

That's what I'm thinking. Once the octc Event passes, I'll sit down for a while trying to work out a balance, and think through loopholes.

What we could do to prevent bow spamming is add a very short cool down on the bow. While it is not on octc, it would reduce the amount of spamming.

What would be the goal? Killing each other? Can't someone just make himself a cobble box and put water on top of it and they can't die?

Wouldn't cannoning a base be better?

And like It's whoever can do it the fastest gets the best score / time.

People would just find a cannon that one shots the base and it would be a race to build it.
