Debunking jitterclicking giving you carpal tunnel

Syenl wrote

oh my god smelly penguin. You just. You don't know shit about carpal tunnel either and the thing is vibrating your arm doesn't include your wrist. I use my elbow and arm to vibrate the mouse.

Doesn't matter if you're vibrating your arm, your wrist is still slightly moving. The reason I brought in the violin vibrato analogy is because when you're doing arm vibrato on the violin, your wrist will still move, even if you are trying to stabilize it. Do any of these repetitive movements long enough and you'll encounter problems, but hey it's your nerves, not mine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

With a violin you move your wrists to hit certain keys and notes you move your wrist up and down. And with jitterclicking your wrist is on a table and mousepad resting while you click, or atleast with mine it is. So if your wrist is grounded its stabilized and not moving, therefore without movement theres no way of carpal tunnel or injury.

I'm talking about vibrato specifically when I'm referring to violinists. They move their arm back and forth and even though they're not moving their wrist, their wrist still moves slightly. The same thing could happen with jitterclicking when you're shaking your hand. What it really comes down to is that doing any repetitive movements with your hands stresses your nerves and puts you at risk. Do it for long enough and it'll definitely become an issue. I remember a few months ago summit1g started having issues in his right wrist and a tingling sensation running down his forearm from his pinky. Sure enough it was after all those years of playing video games, especially Counter-Strike. With the emphasis on clicking fast on Minecraft, people are at a higher risk of developing problems compared to people playing other games.

Yes the wrist is slightly moving but not affectively. You use muscles to jitter click and muscles get sore and overused, if a muscle is overused it becomes irritated and show pain to tell you it's not liking what your doing, I don't get pain when I jitter click barely ever and when I do its in my arm and forearm because I flex the bicep and push the vibration through my tricep to my finger. It does go through the wrist but that's a means of transportation not a means of full power coming into the wrist and from it. It's a little vibration and it isn't likely to affect the wrist especially carpal tunnel.

Do it your way, one day you'll regret it and remember smelly's simple but helpful advice
