Wonderful news, guys - won 17 out of 32 ranked Build matches today (much better than my normal ratio), and I now stand at 1436 elo!I probably should have stopped after this fight, though, considering I made it all the way up to 1472 elo. But hey, I'm still in the 1400 range, so I'm happy.
(By the way, I understand that it looks like I pre-headed in the fight I linked above, but I've been using a new strat - I've actually not been pre-gapping at all and just heading when I go down to 7 hearts. I've found this conserves my healing pretty well.)

Dude, use what you have to your advantage, use the bow a lot more if you're good with it.Players will get pissed, but usually they're like 9 years old…Posted on 10 February 2016 - 08:19 PM

Thanks for the tip. I am actually rather decent at the bow, and I really should use it more than I currently do.

Make sure you are playing your best if you want to get elo, so warm up good ( maybe 5/10 match). Atm im really trying to get 1600 on here so i practice on my alt. I find my non tryhard elo is about 50 less lol. Also finding a good fov helped me be better and more consistent

Lucky :P
But I am currently saving up to buy this laptop, so I should have considerably better performance when I get it.
UPDATE - Made it back up to 1397, so I'm nearly back into the 1400s. I really wish I had donator so I could have infinite ranked matches, though.

Just buy an elo reset and you'll reach your dream of 1400 elo ;DPosted on 16 February 2016 - 09:22 AM

Nah, that's not my issue. I have no problem kind of just hovering around 1400, whether it's all the way up to 1475 or all the way down at 1350. The problem is that I can't get past that point and start working into the 1500s.

Have you tried bowspamming? It's a last resort method.Posted on 16 February 2016 - 09:34 AM

Kind of, but not really. I'm actually quite decent at the bow when I'm getting above 40 fps (which is rare these days), so I can drain people from far away pretty effectively. But would you give me a good definition of "bowspam"?

Use your bow till you have like 10 arrows left in order to drain your opponent. Then go into engage and start lava spamming all over the place and rod your enemy back into the lava and crit spam the living Jesus out of him then rod combo him like Huahwi and finish off with the sword/bow. Or maybe rod spam him just to make him angry then bow him off to kill him.

This video will give you some inspiration. It defines the word 'skill' very well.

Alright, sounds like a legit strat. I'll give it a try and tell you how it worked out for me.

I suck at everything, my highest elo was 1801 last season and that was in build. lol It's just always surprises me that you're like 10x better with the bow than at melee.

Well, I hit 1448 elo today and won 17/28 matches (2 more than half). The sad thing is, I drained myself back down to 1395 at the very end by losing 52 elo in 3 matches (all of which were terribly laggy). But today has given me hope for the future - I know that I can gain elo effectively and pretty steadily, so I should be able to continue progressing forward. I just need to learn when to stop playing matches for a little while (when my lag has gotten too bad to play). Thanks to all who have posted and given me tips & support!
