Any tips/suggestions that can help me improve my melee? I heavily rely on either a bow or rod to get hits off or a small combo.Posted on 08 February 2016 - 02:12 PM
Play Kohi to practice aim (preferably the actual server because knockback is a bit better imo), practice melee in general, try to click decently fast, use the a, d, w, and s keys to your advantage to outstrafe the opponent.Posted on 08 February 2016 - 02:32 PM

It's decent, for sure. I average between 9 and 10 cps.
The first main things for melee if you're not going to use a bow or a rod is strafing. Strafing is definitely important - one of the strongest melee tactics is to rod decently and strafe decently at the same time. This is very effective. However, strafing works just as well when not using any assisted knockback (bow, rod, snowballs). Practice it and figure out a strafing pattern that works for you, and you'll be on your way.
The other main strat for plain melee is blockhitting. This can be used to your advantage in many ways if you know how to use it. If you're in close quarters with someone, like in a pit or a cave, press the right and left click buttons at the same time to hit and block at the same time. This gives you a 50% chance to reduce the damage your opponent is dealing to you by half, reduces the knockback you take, and also slows down your movement. Blockhitting is also very useful for initiating a combo - if you're melee fighting somebody and you can hit them twice quickly using blockhitting, you can safely continue hitting them without blockhitting for a very nice combo, normally. The reason this works is because of the slowed-down movement you make when you're blocking. If you blockhit someone twice very quickly, the other person will continue trying to hit you, but often they will not be able to because you didn't continue moving toward them fast enough for them to reach you.
Hopefully this helps you out.

the main tip that helped me be half decent at melee was low sensitivity. If your mouse is centered on the persons hitbox, you can usually get an extra hit as they are being knocked back, but if your mouse is flying over the screen, you'll get comboed ezpzPosted on 08 February 2016 - 07:00 PM

This helped. I can see that i'm getting a little better at strafing.Posted on 08 February 2016 - 09:22 PM
This is gonna sound weird but I remember someone, I can't remember the name for the life of me, but he created a single player world, built a pole of diamond blocks, and just strafed around it when he was bored. He had a bunch of things like this, like an a-d strafe thing - straight line thing and a circle strafe thingPosted on 08 February 2016 - 09:26 PM
I think ur at the point of no returnPosted on 09 February 2016 - 11:31 AM
Im not that great at pvp but meelee is definitely what i am best at. My advice is first is to find an fov your happy with, it nakes a big difference. Blockhitting is good in a cave or if you are low but i believe its more effective not to use it the whole time. You cps is good so what i would recommend is trying to get the first hit and then strafing left to right after each hit. If your opponent is taking good kb then i would ussually hold w and s and w and d. Circle strafing is also a good option.
