Do you think that a staff member should be as formal as possible? Do you think they should make sure to capitalise “I”, correctly use dashes, hyphens, quotation marks and so on?

Not formal, but professional. Before I retired, I was debating on whether or not I should go out with a bang and make a guide on how to be a successful mod for my fellow staff members since I thought their behavior was getting out of hand. I eventually figured that since the senior mod rank was losing a lot of its original power, there was no use because I was no longer in a position to tell regular mods what to do. Kinda sucks, because that's all I was staff for during my last few months. As for the grammar stuff, I think staff members should at least take the time to type responses out with proper capitalization and spelling, especially with players who request their assistance. I'm pretty lenient on that for the most part now, but I know that the me from two years ago would tell me to stop using the internet. But now that I think about it, it may be best if a staff member uses the same or a better standard for typing than the person they're conversing with.

"Hello, I need your assistance."
"What do you need help with?"

"hello i need your help"
"what do you need help with?"

What do you think about the Socrates' quote “I know that I know nothing”? Does he know something or not?

I like it. I think he's right, because we really don't know anything. We can only know from what we see, and what we see tells us practically nothing. We could be living a life that has already been planned out for us, and everything we see could easily be a lie. It's something that we could never know, and why I think putting all of your faith into science is close-minded and mundane. And throwing the spirituality argument aside, you also have scale to think about. We only have scales of measurement for our world, but what if there's another scale in all this? Imagine for a moment that our universe was the size of an atom. 'Cause I'm gonna give it, give it, give it to you! There's a possibility that there's another world out there we'll never explore because it's on an unfathomably large scale. You can apply that same logic to a minuscule universe. Point is, there are so many possibilities and ideas that we as humans would never be able to understand or see for ourselves.

There is an idiom “Fine feathers make fine birds”. As an example, let's apply this idiom to my username. Do you think it is true? What do you imagine under my username?

Yeah, I agree with it to an extent. There are a lot of people who don't care about their appearance, but people will judge you based on what you wear; I judge people often on fashion, but only positively. If I see a girl come to school wearing black leggings and a loose white tee, I'm not going to think about their clothes much. I hate that look, but I don't really judge them as people based on it because I think they just don't care much about their appearance or find it comfortable. On the other hand, if a girl comes in wearing a plain blue dress with a white full-sleeved shirt underneath, I'd be impressed and would think they have all-around good taste. You've also got the other things to think about though, like how expensive their clothing might be or where they're wearing what they're wearing, but I really only think about whether or not it looks good on him or her.

You're clever, by the way. Your username is a pretty good name for a fantasy character or a Roman soldier, I'd say. I don't really like how it sounds on my tongue, but it's a decent name. So tell me now—I got to go. Because I got it! I'm gonna… give it to you!

how pretentious are you going to get?!

How pretentious do you want me to get? I'm a pretty good actor if I can get into it! I'll play your part, don't worry. She'll be the insane woman, and I'm already Mr. Morgan, so… I'll be taking the female attendant, too. You sure you don't want to try it out? It's gonna be me who sounds like the insane woman! But when you really think about it, I'm barely an actor. There is no reason to suggest that we are paralysed in to any one or more strata of preconceived approaches to literature. Abstract thought is only dangerous to those lacking imagination, it would seem, who conflate symbols with droll substance, as opposed to imagining the intricacies of its shadow-game. Facetious pretension would cause me to beget new lexicon for our scanty tongue. Oops, I've already done that! [Morsinius exits right.]

I heard you're an avid writer, so I figured you must have read a somewhat large amount of literature in your lifetime.

I'm running out of authors to buy books from (3 left for Murakami and 2 left from Mitch Albom).

Samuel Beckett
James Joyce
Thomas Pynchon
Sylvia Plath
Haruki Murakami… whoops!

Most likely my favorite five works:
Dance Dance Dance
War and Peace

Whats your opinion on school tests and how it's used by higher up people. Do you think it really determines how smart a person is?

No, intelligence cannot ever be properly measured by any standardized test. I hate everything about standardized testing: the actual content, the test format, what one is tested on, what one has to prepare, and even the industry built around the thing as a whole. The fact that the tests matter so much when they show so little frustrates me. In fact, I heavily dislike grading and the GPA system for that very reason; academic dedication is all grades signify, and that doesn't mean intelligence. There are lots of different types of intelligence out there; there's sensory intelligence, creative intelligence, social intelligence, athletic intelligence, emotional intelligence—the list can really go on forever. We're all intelligent in different ways, but unfortunately the academic scale is what matters most when you present yourself to a college. I think every kid out there has great potential in any certain activity, but they just need to be brought up in an environment in which they can develop their abilities—that's something school doesn't always provide.

will you ever stop wasting half your life on the forums?

Will you ever stop spending half your time on the forums chasing after me? I know you don't do that, but I don't waste half my life on the forums either. I actually spend half my life being a sea pirate. Argh! See? I actually listen to pirate metal in my free time and I've convinced my school to host a pirate-themed senior dinner. Because us juniors will be serving our fellow seniors at the party, we collectively decided to prepare for the event. Someone suggested we don't brush our teeth until the party, and I can kinda get behind that. Someone else said we should flood the hall and serve the seniors on small boats. Isn't that cool? Hahaha! I've always wanted to serve lobster, by the way. It's a pretty gruesome looking animal if you think about what the inside looks like. Oops, looks like someone's calling me! I better go take a bath—tee hee!

How much do you play minecraft these days?

Not much at all. I find myself occasionally picking it up and getting bored soon after, and the last time I'd done that was a couple of weeks back. The only reason I initially picked the game up again was to listen to a new album I had while passing the time doing something. I don't think I'll be playing at all from now on, though. I've given most of my alts away to people I know, and I'm probably going to change my account's password to random characters soon so that I don't bother coming back.

How much Naruto have you watched, and what's your opinion on the series?

Alright, Hivlik. Here’s my reply, just for you. <3

“Morsinius’ Anime List” is something I made a couple of nights ago to get a better understanding for what I like and what I don’t like. Sure—it was a response to a question posted here, but there was no need for me to answer the question with a 700x2400 diagram that lists all of the shows that I could think of at that moment; all he’d asked for were “recommendations.” But that all seems irrelevant to the question at hand: How much Naruto have you watched, and what's your opinion on the series?

Before I tell you anything, I’ll flat out tell you that I’ve watched around 150 episodes of Naruto, and I don’t like it.

And I bring up that list because I think it debunks something that many Naruto fans would probably immediately call me out on: “You don’t like it because it’s popular!” If you take a look at that list, you’ll see that there are plenty of super popular entry-tier shows that I’ve enjoyed watching. I thought Toradora! was alright and teared up a bit watching Code Geass. I even kinda liked Dragon Ball Z. If you go further down that list, you’ll also see that the most obscure stuff I’ve watched isn’t the best stuff I’ve watched. I’m a lot of things, but I’m not a hipster and nor am I a contrarian. When I decide to form a basic opinion on something, I don’t factor in all the irrelevant things that could potentially affect my opinion in the long run.

The biggest problem in Naruto is the amount of filler episodes. According to animefillerlist.com, Naruto has a total of 93 filler episodes out of 220. That’s about 42%. Here’s a diagram that shows you where they all are; each episode is represented by 4x48 box.

Apparently, Shippuden’s even worse with 203 fillers out of a total of 453, but I haven’t watched a single episode of it and I’m therefore in no position to provide you with an opinion on it.

But then you would probably tell me that I should just skip the filler episodes, since they add practically nothing to the plot. That’s true and all, and I would do that; however, the problem comes in when all the relevant stuff ends up equating to garbage as well.

The basic plot is nothing special. Guy destroys a village, his spirit’s sealed in Naruto, Naruto becomes an outcast but wants to become leader of his village. He’s then in a team with his dark’n’edgy rival and boring crush (who loves the rival btw). The rival, Sasuke, eventually goes out on his own and gets darker and more evil and all that. Then there’s stuff about fighting and misdirection and bloodlines and more small fights, and then somewhere along the line Sasuke turns good and rejoins the team. It’s overall a pretty boring mess, and it’s objectively pretty bad. I don’t care if you enjoy it, but more on whether or not you can understand that it’s a pretty bad plot. Naruto’s essentially a mess of a story that tries to engulf the watcher with darkness and shipping.

And when you have characters and a plot that bad, you’re going to attract a bad fanbase. This is probably what you’ll think much of my hate for this series comes from, and you’re 100% right. I’d pass this off as any old bad shōnen had it not been for the awful fanbase. Yes, I’m generalising, but it’s filled with japanophiles that lack any sense of self-respect, third-graders who try to look cool by acting out the characters’ moves, and people who own katanas to “defend themselves.”

I don’t have a problem with any of you liking it, but if this is one of your first five anime shows, I’d recommend you skip it. There's so much better stuff out there that it's not worth getting into this series. I’d like to point you all to these two battle shōnen (that means similar to Naruto's style!) series that you’ll probably enjoy more if you decide not to dedicate yourself to being a dilettante: Hunter x Hunter (2011 version) and Yū Yū Hakusho.

If we’re talking about general shows and you’re just starting out, I’d recommend any of the following: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (thriller, horror, mystery), Cowboy Bebop (space), Zankyō no Terror (mystery, thriller), Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-Kun (romance, comedy), Toradora! (romance, comedy).

If you wanna watch any show that's recently aired, try Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū. I personally would mark that as a solid pink on that chart I made. And yeah, take a look at the green, gray, and pink shows on that chart. I enjoyed them, and you probably would, too.

What a fantastic answer. Can't say I expected anything less.

I couldn't agree more with your claim that naruto has too much filler. It's the reason I stopped watching, even 300 episodes into shippuden. And although I'm far from an anime connoisseur and all but a virgin to its real depths, I must say I enjoy the plot of it a good deal, even now. I don't have a very solid point of reference, but I'd opine that its plotline is far better than that of any other remotely similar show I've seen - which, admittedly, includes nothing more than Pokemon and The Last Airbender. Even so, I enjoyed it enough to get through hundreds of episodes, and that's definitely saying something.

You seem to have pretty well thought out opinions.. what's your opinion of me? I understand if you don't say much because I don't think you know me anyways ^-^

Ah, personality-wise I unfortunately don't have much to say about you. I wish I did, because I'd be able to give you a far more personal response. I do have this to say though—I know you're pretty good at the game, and you've got a good attitude from what I've seen. Whatever I think of you, it's definitely positive. I'm not a fan of raspberry crises for any old reason, you know. I feel that if you (or anyone for that matter) showed that positive attitude in a private setting too, you'd become part of a minority that I'm rather fond of. Maybe you're part of that, maybe you're not. I can't really say. But you know, the outside presentation is good enough for me. I find look for the best in people and try to ignore or downplay their shortcomings. Despite all that though, I could never put myself in that category. At least, not the way I used to be when I still played to get to the top of the archer leaderboards. Sure, I never said much, but I was irritable from the inside. I had mood swings and often shut myself in to relieve the pain of losing. Bad times, but now I'm as non-toxic as a Crayola crayon processed in a factory based in Slovakia.
