Horse made me lose UHC

I was doing pretty good in a 315 To2 Absorptionless Cutclean UHC, and i was on a horse in diamond armor. The horse then went into a tree and made me lose 5 1/2 hearts due to suffocation incredibly quickly. Can anyone make it so suffocation happens slower? I was hunted and killed by 3 ppl after the incident that caused me to go down to 3 hearts. Thanks,ThornySpikes
