You said staff are trained to never question gcheat? That's just plainly wrong. We specifically train seniors that, if people care about their appeal and have certain logs they need to tag a gcheat admin instead of denying it, so that the admin can look at it himself and conclude whether the guy was cheating or not. The process of an appeal that gets escalated, then dealt with by a gcheat admin is way more personal. We do this for a reason, people who create good appeals get rewarded by a personal response. Too bad 99% of the people create appeals not even worthy of wiping my ass with.
I would love to be more personal in general to people in appeals. Truth of the matter is that the senior mods get about 6 pages of appeals each day. So that's about 120 daily. Dealing with appeals is a very repetitive task, and gets boring really quickly. So how do you think we can improve the system, aka get more personal replies instead of "denied you were cheating", without making people have to wait for more than a week? We'd need to get lots of people with no life.
With the incredible growth we got, and the quantity of the players on our network nowadays it's impossible to not automate stuff. We simply don't have the manpower and the amount of no-lifers to give each cheating kid the attention they don't deserve.
Got an idea how we can improve the appeals system?

How can you know that? If anything, the seniors job is pressuring, but that's it. Default moderators job is not confusing, and it's not pressuring. Regarding the pressure: We allow mods to be decently inactive. Only if they didn't do their job at all or close to that, we fire them. They don't need to be our slave and be online all the time, helping each person. The job is flexible. Regarding the confusion, the handbook is very clear and obviously way better than teaching each aspect of the job personally. A handbook makes stuff more clear, and staff can refer back to it at any time. Not to mention is saves a lot of time for the higher ups.
Remember we added managers? These are people with their specific group of staff, and that group of staff can always go to their managers with problems and questions. It's clear and I haven't heard 1 complaint about the system from our staff themselves yet.
Here are some graphs from a survey.

This shows how well managers work

Since you stepped down we tuned down the reports a bit for staff. Only people that have been reported twice get shown on a different server. Staff aren't expected to be everywhere, they are supposed to moderate for a bit, and they can play too for a bit. If a staff member doesn't ban somebody who was cheating on any servers we don't blame them. Just look at the hundreds of reports who accuse certain staff to be lazy. These were all denied, unless someone was really out of line.
Hope to see your response Burnt :)

@freekkiller I'm on mobile so the task of fancy quoting isnt easy, so I'll just hit everything you said without a quote.I generalized every branch as "staff" so there for I wasn't wrong, you just didn't fully grasp my point. I'll break things down a bit more. I'll start off by saying again that I have no issue with the way gcheat functions behind the scenes and no issue with having an automated system with the exception of the fact the playerbase no longer sees any results. When a mod bans a player and that player appeals within a certain amount of time a video of evidence must be presented. Anyone who views the appeal sees the evidence and can decide whether they trust the verdict or not. As with a gcheat ban they just get "denied you were cheating" and everyone is suppose to trust that. If youve noticed some players have gotten up to a thousand views on their appeals and the people viewing it only get to know that player was cheating with no physical evidence. Yes I know were all lead to believe that gcheat is flawless, and it's quite a damn good system, but it was questioned a lot less when logs were slammed into the appeal.
Alright lets discuss the polls you posted. For starters I could pretend to be in any branch of staff right now and still be able to list my managers. They're clearly posted on the forums, most likely presented in the handbook, and probably an entirely separate thread on managers as well. Now I'm not saying the polls are rigged or inaccurate, because I'm sure the staff were urged to be honest, but trashing your superiors is a very easy way to be liked amongst your staff team.
I still hold to my argument about needing more hands on training. Yes from this point I can only make assumptions, but I really don't feel theres the hands on training their use to be. I'd be more interested in seeing a poll that asks "how often have you had the chance to speak with a manager in team speak". Referring back to school, did you prefer nothing but text book learning , or did you like it when a teacher stood at the board and explained things, or perhaps even came to you on a personal level and helped?
Do I have ideas to help? Now this is where my argument starts to fall apart. Its undeniable that the server has grown so much from what it use to be, so clearly things would change. It would lower the amount of staff but I always felt like team speak should be a requirement. Really I'd need to spend more time investigating it and have more facts then assumptions to offer more advice .

@BurntCactus you probably remember the reference to the MCDonald's job in the mod handbook. Teamspeak is a great way to become friends, but we hire people for the job. This is why we don't think Teamspeak should be required, but should be optional. It's a good way to have a personal talk, but regarding the job, text works just as well. Anyway, teamspeak wouldn't really improve the points that you listed above. Having mods become friends with each other won't change much for the players, altough the mods might stick around for longer.Regarding the poll, answers were 100% anonymous. This meant we wouldn't be able to figure out those 3 people who don't know their manager, but it also meant that everyone was honest.

Only seniors can deal with GCheat appeals, do I don't get what you meant there. Anyway, we don't teach lower staff to never question gcheat. I don't even think there is 1 section in the handbook about GCheat itself.

We have a choice:
1) Show logs for each appeal. This, especially with the new checks makes it relatively easy for hack developers to find out how it works and create clients that bypass gcheat
2) Don't show logs. Will make bans less transparant even though in the end it makes no difference, the guy was cheating anyways.
As you can see, both points have downsides. We went for #2, and I agree with it.

Why mixed opinions about the staff & why the difference of community ratings on different days? jw

Staff: I dont deal with change very well to be quite honest, i compare the staff team now to what it was like when I was staff. I just miss the old days (not really old, but you know what I mean)
Community: what burnt said tbh, at the start i was skeptical about uhc (this was back when we did private uhcs and shit) but i still modded a few games here and there i even hosted a staff uhc, albiet very badly. Then uhc became larger, suddenly i started to find the uhc side of things quite annoying, like i said i dont adapt to change very well. On a good day when im in a good mood, i find the community not too bad, on a shitty day where the forums is filled with shitposts and whiney children i find it incredibly irritating again.
Tldr i find the uhc community and the community in general annoying most likely because i dont deal with change very well.

Maintenance: 9/10 - The updates are amazing, and it would be 10/10 if no lag was a thing.
Ban/Report/Appeal System: 9.99/10 - Excellent, would be 10/10 if not easily abused.

Staff: 9/10 - The staff is very chill and helpful at all times, however there have been some slipups and mistakes made by them. (Shout out to Allison for being one of the best staffmembers I've met.)Community: 6/10 - It's very toxic, but some of my best friends are in/from this community.
Maintenance: 9.5 - Godly, but everything can be improved. (Except for GCheat XD)
Ban/Report/Appeal System: 8/10 - Idk what to say.
Overall: 9.5/10 - I love it, even though it has one of the most toxic communities I've ever seen, it's one of the things I enjoy the most.
