You will be surprised… some people are suicidal and you may have triggered something, it's better to just not say it at all.

You're right, they shouldn't blame you, it's disgusting that people say it. But seriously, you need to take everything on the internet with a grain of salt. If you're trying to use Badlion as a source of depression relief, great, but you can't use that as a reason to lash out against people who don't agree with you.

There's a difference between lashing out at someone who doesn't agree with me and lashing out at someone who is blaming a victim for his inability to handle toxicity. The reason why I reacted that way is because what was said is extremely offensive for me and others I know

This should get pinned. Well said. I'm especially impressed it came from a non-staff member.Posted on 26 February 2016 - 08:51 AM

Honestly, fuck off. Some people (like me) with depression use gaming and Badlion as an escape from IRL problems. It's not an ideal distraction, but to blame us? The real problem are the salty assholes who think they can do whatever they want behind the screens, not the victims.
If I ever hear you say something like this again.. I'm going to rant
Before you read what's below, telling someone to kill themselves is still a horrible thing. This isn't supposed to make light of it in any way.
I have to agree with badware to some degree. Pulzz and Igneo's comments were pretty ignorant, but they aren't in that situation. Every person is different and while some might shrug off a comment like "kys" on the net, some might feel offended/attacked after someone says it. Instead of lashing out and telling them to fuck off, you could attempt to educate and explain why someone might be "set off" when they receive a message like that.
Lynkkis does have a valid point(even though the way he worded it sounded dismissive of the problem). I have a very strong belief that if you can't handle something that comes with a certain environment(whether it be a sport that's too rough, a game that is too competitive, or a place where people could easily say something like "kys" and worse), you should either:
1: Learn to shrug it off.
I don't mean any offence to those who are depressed, but if you play in an environment like Badlion where kids love to be toxic, you should expect to get these sort of messages while playing. If someone messages you "kys" or something along the lines, just remember that they are the person telling you to end your life over a children's game. If you take the offensive/extreme comments that people say over the internet to heart, then places like Badlion is going to be hell for you when someone says something like that.
2: Remove yourself from the environment.
If #1 didn't work for you, then this is the option that is best for you. If someone messaging you horrible things like that really does affect you that negatively(and you personally cannot learn to ignore it), then it's not as much of an escape as you make it out to be. I'm not saying that you should just quit badlion, but rather prevent the situation before it happens. You could simply turn off multiplayer chat when you play to prevent people from messaging you things like that. If you cannot bear to turn off chat when you play, you are taking that risk of someone making a horrible comment directed towards you. If something like a horrible comment could push you over the edge to doing something irrational, then you yourself have to make the decision to remove yourself from that environment.
This is just IMO.

I still remember when I was about to kill some 1400 in gapple on an alt and before he died he managed to message me saying "I fucked ur mom", which really makes me worry about what people will say for losing 3 ELO -_ -Posted on 26 February 2016 - 01:27 PM
@WhatDefinesYou +1 respect, I agree with everything you said. While it's true that in an ideal world we should all shrug off the toxicity of Badlion, we have to acknowledge that some people are more vulnerable than others, and adjust accordingly. I firmly believe that people should be able to play this server and talk with friends through chat without being worried about fellow players telling them to commit suicide.
And honestly, that's just such a disgusting thing to say to someone.
