So, I know that the majority of pvpers today stay on 1.7 and look down upon the 1.8 and 1.9 changes. However, as it was with 1.8, new players gradually switched over to the more recent versions of MC. Because of this, I believe it's likely that the same will happen with 1.9, and 1.7/1.8 population will decrease significantly. So I have three questions
1) How long do you think the 1.7/1.8 server will still be online before it shuts down?
2) Where do you see competitive MC in a year
3) How do you think BL as a community will react and adapt to 1.9

1) I'm pretty sure most servers won't update right away, as the 1.9 version has way too many mechanics changes and, you know, people don't like "changes". This server has a plan for a 1.9 server already, but I'm not sure there's going to be a solid and constant player-base. I suppose people will eventually migrate to 1.9 servers in 6+ months. Trust me, this is a very weird update, many don't like it even, which means 1.9 servers won't get as popular and will need to downgrade.2) Some cool tournaments will be hosted on servers, as the new shield mechanic, the tipped arrows and dual wielding can create so many pvp scenarios. I think there's going to be a blast of tournaments in general, because of the unique 1.9 PvP.
Regarding kit pvp servers (like Badlion), eh.. I guess some kits and events with these new pvp items will be added.
3) Just a very little part of the community will constantly play on Badlion's 1.9 server for the first 4 months or so. I guess more people will "give it a shot" and after 6+ months they will start liking it. It's not that terrible after all.

1.9 PvP won't probably be all ping based. Still won't play it though, sounds terriblePosted on 29 February 2016 - 03:52 AM

Even if you haven't tried it at all? You sound pretty extreme.

I have played it and can confirm: It is pure shit, the only good thing about it is the wings, the rest is crap. To be fair I haven't got time to play multiplayer 1.9 and I am going to give it a try, but it will be crap. Quite sure.Posted on 02 March 2016 - 02:27 AM
I don't see competitive Minecraft going too far unless Mojang gives pvp their full support (AntiCheat, pvp fixes, etc). Badlion is definitely helping the competitive scene grow but without Mojang it's not gonna go far.Posted on 02 March 2016 - 06:31 AM
Certain servers take like a year and half to update to 1.8 although theres only small amount of changes. 1.9 would probably be delayed for as long as possiblePosted on 02 March 2016 - 09:51 AM
