1.9 PvP Changes
I just tried out 1.9 pvp and here are some pros and cons:

Pros:
Elytra- So Awesome!
Shields- Ehhh, sort of ok, can work around.
New Arrows- X-Ray arrows, what else?
Lingering Potions- Pretty good for teaming.
Dual Wielding- Pretty cool feature eh?

Cons:
Sword Delay- Yooooooo.
Rods not working?- Ok so I tried this ingame and rods did not seem create knockback. There goes all of pvp.
Everything aspect of 1.9.

It makes the "noobs" better this update obviously. Not only that, it completely abolishes 1.7 pvp. If the rods don't work and the swords have delay. I will most likely leave the MC community till it gets better "updates".

Other servers have been able to make support for 1.7/1.8/1.9
It's not like badlion will become strictly 1.9 they obviously understand its shit.

@Tuft I know, but this update was centered towards "noobs".

It's not shit, it's just different. The mechanics are actually pretty nice to play with, we need to get used to these new timing stuff, and need to learn how to read fights again.
Don't worry, I'm sure 90% of the servers will stay 1.7/1.8, so you don't really have to leave the community.
Finally, 1.9 is a nice "plot twist" and we should really start considering PvP this way is a bit more fun. This whole new arrows and pots are really big game changer, and I love the shield. Also, sword fights are not really that bad against other players, because everyone just doesn't know what to do or how to read the fight. We'll find new PvP tricks balancing the lack of "spam clicks", and the bow now is way more OP that it already was (and I fucking love it). Also, the rod finally isn't as stupid as it used to be in 1.7/1.8… no more cheap combos yay \o/

@Nicosby Sure, but I like the aspect of skill and strategy to this game in 1.7.

@Nicosby I also like the "smoothness" feel of 1.7, like eating food while hitting the ground, "swinging" your bow before pulling back, and the block hitting.

Yeah, but these are kinda… useless (and pointless)? Like okay I understand you might like how it looks like, but does that really matter? Also, blockhitting is (was) actually a glitch, so I'm actually happy they got rid of it (was about time!).

@Nicosby Well I don't want to get too into this, but most people agree that 1.7 was the high point of Minecraft PvP. And looks are everything.

It keeps getting worse and worse.. starting from 1.6. 1.2 is still the best version :^)

Bukkit makes an override for the rod. In vanilla it doesn't work on players in 1.7, but they changed it to add support

1.9 in my eyes and many others will always be a disgrace to pvp

where's the blockhit

yes but its impossible to play with those dalys between hits and the game is really changed, im happy for who wants to play 1.9 the only thing i ask to badlion is to stay at least in 1.8

Pretty sure Badlion will stay 1.7/1.8 so no need to worry.

I mean if they can remove that hit delay bs and remove the shield then it will be pretty fun, but my sweaty swordrush style will be eliminated :(

No blockhitting? If Kohi changes to 1.9 99% of people will quit LOL

It's a change for the worse, a tweak on combo mechanics and knock back would be good for pvp.
Minecraft pvp has been up to this point about key combinations, aim, and clicking speed. If you take away the importance of key combinations, clicking speed, and for the most part aim, it no longer takes skill. It's literally not that people need to get used to it it's that they're used to an environment where skill is subjective and is bountiful so players can have a large skill gap. Players can be decisively, consistently better now, when 1.9 comes out, at least in potion pvp and for the most part BUHC it will close the skill gap and everyone will be mostly equal.
If CSGO removed aim and game sense it would receive the same reaction. It's not a change for the better just because it's easier to be good. It's a change for the worse, in the majority of competitive pvp communities' opinion.
