Melee Help
So I have been playing MC and UHC and pvping for over a year now and I have er… discovered some things about myself, specifically how horrible I am at melee. I am just wondering like how to get better. I have a crap mouse so jittering isn't really an option, and I would rather not jitter regardless just based on my principles.

Basically I click and click and click as fast as I can as strafe side to side but I can't melee except people that I assume use trackpads, I use 1.8 and honestly my build elo suffers because I can't win a melee encounter.

Just kinda a plea to see if I am missing something obvious or I just need to git gud (probably the case).

I use quake pro fov-which could have something to do with it tbh, but when I experiment I am usually worse off than before so I don't think that is it.

Also tips for rodding could be nice, I am decent at it but by no means a pro.

Try using 1.7, as melee is better in 1.7, and bow is better in 1.8. You also get better hit registration. Also use 85 or below fov. It's really not good, you might do worse for a bit but it'll def make it easier.
You really don't need to jitter, just click and try to strafe to one side at a time, don't spam strafe. I personally use 72 fov for both speed 2 and non speed 2, but if I'm tryharding build, I use 85, as your bow fires straight where you aim.

Try blockhitting

Low FOV is a huge benefactor. I use 80 FOV - I used to use 90, but my bow accuracy has shot up since I switched to 80. I also like lower FOVs because it doesn't feel like people are hitting you from super far away, like it can when using Quake Pro.

Somewhere between 80-90 FOV tends to help, as said above. I find jittering to be hugely helpful, just as a personal skill. If you can't jitter, go for precise aim and wtapping. Finetune your sensitivity until you have the best accuracy you can have, and aim for the center of the chest. Wtapping is a pretty simple concept but takes a long time to get good at, so experiment with it.

Welp, i play potpvp, but a tip would be to let go of w for a second and then tap it again after each hit so your sprint resets, works for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keep your opponent at a good distance and not too close. Strafe between hits
