Today i was playing the to2 Badlion game hosted by AverageBean and my friend IDontXray got muted for asking the question "why can i get muted for saying nigger, but not saying cracker" before you say stuff like "this thread is stupid" or "shes only writing it because your friend got muted" just please continue reading:

First off, On tonys stream he said they were SPECIFICALLY told to mute anyone if they say "nigger" in chat. I understand the reasoning behind this but if the word is not used offensively, in a harsh way, or directed to someone, why should it be a mute? This wasnt the main reason i wrote this thread though.

The main reason I wrote this was to understand the reason to why the word "cracker" isnt a mute. Again, in tonys stream they said its not a mute because most people dont take offence to it. but seriously? the key word is "most" because i know that some people do take offence. I personally havent been called one, but I wouldnt like getting called one? i know this term doesnt offend everyone but for the people that it does offend, how is this fair? The same goes for the term "nigger" it doesnt offend all black people, but its a mute if you say it in chat?

As you can see, the definition for both "cracker" and "nigger" are generally the same thing, and i do believe that someone would take offence to the term "cracker" and "nigger" in the same way.
So both should be a fair mute? dont you think?

Okay.

First off, we are actually (technically) still supposed to mute for cracker.

But let's be honest here. The n word is a far worse slur; cracker barely constitutes a racial slur.

I'm white. I've never been called a cracker in my life. My ancestors weren't called "cracker" while they were forced to work against their will and beaten and whipped. That never happened. The n word has consistently been used in an incredibly racist and ugly way, and while I respect the fact that black people are reclaiming it by using it, mods can't tell if you're black or not on a minecraft server, so we mute everyone.
