Hi everyone. Recently I wanted to play Badlion at school using my laptop and my vpn since Minecraft is blocked on my school network when I was greeted with an error that said that Badlion doesn't allow you to use a vpn. I get that this is probably set in place to prevent ip-banned players from getting access to the server; however, why can't you just ban them by their account. They can't keep creating accounts since Minecraft is a paid game and that would mean they would be spending hundreds of dollars just to evade the ban. I"m sure there has to be some other way to prevent ip-banned players from going on the server than to ban vpn's in general as other servers have obviously done it like Hypixel and The Hive. I also think that most hackers are little kids who suck at pvp and I'm not sure if many of them have purchased or know how to use a vpn. Free vpns tend to be really slow to play Minecraft on.Last edited on 16 March 2016 - 09:43 PM by Jahmyr
VPN's also get people caught in blanket bans, as archybot said. And most hackers are not little kids, most of them are pathetic high schoolers downloading/coding ghost clients to use on block game servers instead of applying for colleges or getting a jobPosted on 16 March 2016 - 10:07 PM

I am using a premium vpn service that I pay for. I have access to hundreds of vpn servers that are owned by my provider. So I think it would be pretty unlikely for someone else to play Badlion with hacks and have purchased a vpn from the same vpn provider as me and is connected to the same specific vpn server that I am connected to. If that happens, they can always contact support as I don't think this would happen much for paid vpn servers. On the other hand, I don't think it's even possible to detect free vpn's vs. paid ones, but here is a suggestion I have: You guys could add an option on the badlion website for players to add custom ip's of their vpns in a whitelist which is assosciated with their account. That way only that user can login with that vpn. I don't know if their's a big demand for this feature, but it was just a suggestion. I don't think it would be hard to code though. It would consist of three parts: a database part which you guys probably already have and just need to modify a table in the db, a small php script which is for registering the ip's, and a simple minecraft server plugin that would check if the ip is assosciated with the player's account only if it detects that the player is using a vpn.

They won't lend it since they are paying for the vpn and wouldn't want their account banned as well.

But sometimes we just don't do anything. Like today, had a sub literally just used my phone for 2 hours. We did nothing, the sub did not even speak at all.

Then they and their friends will get banned, problem solved. I doubt people will give away their accounts to their hacker friends because they know they will get their account banned. If the guy lends his account to his friend and his friend doesn't hack with that account then that isn't costing anyone problems on the server so who cares.

what if they dont know that their friends are hackers? u should learn at school, not play minecraft
and btw, vpns can be abused by adding latency to their connection…which is exactly why(and ip ban evasion too) vpns arent allowed

-1Thats a way to evade the ip ban, and I dont want more cheaters in the server.
