New Minecraft 1.20 Items

The Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update is right around the corner. It features brand-new archaeology content, more exploration content, new wood types, and so much more! If you want to make sure not to miss out on anything, then make sure to keep reading.

New Bamboo Blocks

Bamboo is now even more useful. You can gather bamboo and use it to craft bamboo mosaics, bamboo planks, and blocks of bamboo. This is a quick and efficient way to build a first house if you spawn in a jungle.

You can also use the new blocks of bamboo to craft a raft. You can craft one block of bamboo out of four pieces of bamboo. And the raft itself costs you four blocks of bamboo.

New Sculk Block

Minecraft 1.20 also features the new calibrated sculk sensor. Even though the other sculk blocks were added in the previous updates, this is still a great addition. It allows for many more creative redstone creations.

New Cherry Grove Biome and Blocks

The new cherry grove biome is absolutely stunning and introduces the new cherry trees to the game. You can obtain cherry logs, planks, and saplings from them. Like the new bamboo blocks, you can use these in various different ways. Your creativity is the limit.

Chiseled Bookshelves and Hanging Signs

If you were ever annoyed that you cannot store any books in bookshelves, then we have great news. You can now craft chiseled bookshelves, and store enchanted books, or books in general, in them. You can build a library and store all your handwritten pieces, or store your enchantments in a more aesthetic way!


You can also craft the new hanging signs as of 1.20. They are quite expensive as they cost six stripped logs, but they are definitely worth the price. And you can, of course, also use the new cherry logs.

What about the new Archaeology features?

You will now find suspicious gravel and suspicious sand in your world. Then use the new brush tool to uncover what is hidden in them. You can find the new sniffer eggs in suspicious sand.


You can now craft decorated pots from pottery sherds. You can find 20 different pottery sherds in your world by using the new brush item. Arrange four pottery sherds as follows in your crafting table to craft a decorated pot:


The new sniffer egg can be found in the suspicious sand, and the new relic music disc can be found in the suspicious gravel. Though, you have to keep in mind that you can only find the relic music disc in trail ruins. You can find these hidden throughout your world.

Ancient Seeds

Now you know how to find the sniffer egg and what else you can find in the suspicious sand and gravel blocks. But what exactly is the sniffer useful for? As the name suggests, the sniffer occasionally decides to sniff the ground and dig up ancient seeds.

The Sniffer can dig up the new pitcher pod or the new torchflower seeds. In addition, the pitcher pod turns into a pitcher plant once fully grown up.

Armor Trims and Netherite Upgrade Template

This is probably one of the most anticipated features of the Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update. It allows you to make your armor truly unique and make you stand out. The netherite upgrade smithing template is also mentioned in the article above. It is a new item that is required to upgrade your armor to netherite. Now, it should take a bit longer for you to obtain full netherite equipment.

Are there any other new items or blocks?
