I'm guessing you've never had a job, and if you have, I'm sure it wasn't in freelance work. Because if you did you'd understand that time is extremely precious and valuable, and comitting to a long term job has to come with thinking of the pros and cons. Sure, if you're super dedicated to the server, website, and community, have tons of free time to research, are charismatic, and also kick ass at editing and journalism, then all the power to you, I'm sure they'll be happy with the job.

You are going to be making news videos on a minecraft server bud. This isn't a real job and I highly doubt you will have to work very hard and put a ton of free time into it.

You're practically proving my point. If someone is going to half-ass it, then yeah, it's not going to take time. But if someone who is actually dedicated to their work and put the time in (and yes, a project like this would require time and if you think it wouldn't then you're pretty naive) then they deserve some pay, in some form. A job by definition is paid work - there's no real or fake jobs bud. If someone puts hard work in consistently then they should be rewarded.

Totally both valid points. To be completely honest, I'm not even too involved in the community and would honestly be an awful fit for the content creator, I really wasn't even planning on applying, I just saw the post while in a mediocre mood and posted those questions. Later I suppose I was too caught up in trying to win an argument that I went a bit overboard and made it seem like I don't think volunteer work exists at all, which is ridiculous, I've had plenty of volunteer positions that I worked hard for and didn't get paid. I guess I naively thought things would be different around here because it was a large network, but you guys are a community like any other. I'm trying to find the words of what else to say, but I didn't mean any disrespect and I'm sure whoever they choose to do this will be fantastic, whether they get paid or not.
