Wrote this up for my friend merry ChristmasToday, I will be writing up different Build UHC strategies.
1. Defensive:
A defensive play style should be used if they pregap and you can get trades/more hits than them or if you blatantly have more healing than them and want to play it safe.
The way that you play defensive is bowing as much as you can, occasionally going for sword fights but maintaining high health. Usually you want to use your golden apples before your heads to try and keep the pressure on and leaving the heads for more intense melee battles towards the end of the fight. You want to try and bow and heal with golden apples whenever you are 2-3 hearts down. Even if you are in a melee engagement, go for 2-4 hits and then back off and heal. This should play out in such a way that they run out of healing before. A common mistake is that when they have run out of healing and you still have some you try and go for some combos and then die. Don't go for combos. Continue to go for 2-4 sword hits and bowing but keep healing whenever you need to. If you do this, you will pressure them and have them low on health leaving them for an easy kill.
Pros:
Safe, can't be easily taken down unless large combos are used to counter.
Can be aggravating to the opponent because the fights will take longer and will less frequently take melees.
Cons:
Hard to execute (need to get more healing than the opponent).
Fights take a long time.
People will hate you because of the use of the bow.
2. Offensive:
If you are playing a well versed player who has more healing than you, this is the time to use the offensive play style.
If they are good, it will be hard to get combos on them so you need to play semi defensive until they don't heal and try to quick drop you. If this does happen, you need to take the opportunity and go for the quick drop. Getting them into a corner and/or a lava bucket is a great way to do this. The most important thing is to pressure them when trying to kill them. Do not go for the bowshots if they are 1-2 hearts because if you miss those, then the game is probably over. The best way to keep the pressure is to chase them and be ready to jump and play blocks under your feet if they water bucket. Also be prepared to dodge rods in case they try and rod you back. If they do get off the healing, still go for the melee because it's probably your best bet. They only get 2 absorption hearts because the regeneration is slow, so if you can get two quick hits to initiate a combo you can finish them off quite easily.
Pros:
Makes fights short and is a lot of fun.
Can be used to take down higher ELO players.
Cons:
Inconsistent; one wrong move can cost you the game.
3. Responsive:
The responsive play style is solely based on responding to the opponent. This is mostly used against opponents with a skill level similar to yours.
The idea behind playing responsively is that if you are of similar skill levels, you should try and heal whenever they heal. If they eat a golden apple, then it's best for you to do the same. If you are able to get a couple more hits on them, you will maintain a slightly higher amount of health than them and by doing so you will both be drained to no/next to no healing but you should have the upper hand. This is best to do at the start of most fights and if you get more hits on them then move to a defensive playstyle and if they get more hits on you move to an offensive playstyle.
Pros:
Hard to quickdrop
Very malleable
Cons:
If they get a lot more hits on you, you are most likely going to die.
Conclusion:
A well versed PvPer should be able to execute any of the three main play styles and use them in harmony to create a well rounded PvPer.
Hope you enjoyed and learnt something from this!

I also have 250-300 ping… Your point?
Having bad ELO doesn't mean that I don't know strategies… I could have the best strategies in the world but still execute them wrong or not be able to get proper hits.

I only said you are a 1400. I don't remember saying 1400 are bad and they don't know strategies. I've never said that.
