Some of the staff is absolutely awesome and some are absolute ass holes. Some cant take a joke and take things to personal and mute because of it. Elvenking09 happens to be one of those. I fought him in build uhc and he was an 1850 and me 1500ish and he played like an EU girl and i beat him and messaged him privately he wasnt good at the game and immediately said i was trolling before i even saw he was mod and i was immediately muted for disrespect. Mods shouldnt mute for personal grudges especially when someone is kidding.Last edited on 17 August 2016 - 11:34 AM by yea
What I have noticed recently (well not recently but it has come up more often now than before) is that favoritism and bias is becoming more frequent when recruiting some staff members as well as demoting some. You can't deny that for arena pvp, Ginie does have favorites that he picks and there may be some staff that shouldn't even be staff right now - but they are because of how many extra chances they get compared to the general new staff member. Ginie himself is not a bad guy or anything but he does pick favorites and we all know that. Take a look at the Octile incident for example. A staff recorded him getting countless sketchy hits and was fit for a ban. As far as i know, you can't have that many false bans. Sure you fuck up once but that doesn't mean you would get demoted just for false banning someone. I have talked to multiple respectable people on Badlion about it and we all agreed that if the evidence that the staff member provided wasn't sufficient enough, the staff member would've been demoted and banned. Why? Because Ginie picks favorites. There also is the fact on how some staff are recruited who aren't even deserving. I won't point out any names but the staff that I'm talking about was 12 years old and demoted for calling another person the N-Word. What blows my mind is how the kid even got staff when his immaturity level was higher than my ELO last season. It literally made no sense - not to mention he would in a way harass another staff member who was a female. Sure it's not bad to have a crush on someone but constantly annoying them and harassing them is unacceptable. He was demoted sure, but I don't even understand how he got staff in the first place.
The most mature staff I've seen so far are the ones that are the UHC hosts. No clue why it is but from what I've seen, UHC is less toxic than ArenaPvP. This is also due to the fact that ArenaPvP is now swarming with the immature brats from Kohi which was the most toxic server of its time ( no offense prplz ily ). Maybe you can have stricter rules set for the Arena staff. It's also pretty hard to tell what staff are actually online due to the lobby system being completely different. If I try doing /list the only people that would come up are donors. I haven't seen a single staff member in /list. While this does make it easier for them to catch hackers, it makes it harder for the people who actually need help and I highly doubt a staff member of ArenaPvP will message someone if they say "Can someone help me?" in game. I can't speak on that topic because I don't know if the person gets messaged at all but this is only from what's happened to me when I asked for help in chat at one point.
You can never have a perfect staff team as each member of the staff team will have their flaws. Some might be more aggressive, some might be more laid back, and others always follow the rule book. The staff on here all have different varieties of personality which makes them unique. While this is a heart-warming fact it also has its downsides to favoritism. Every staff member on here has at one point shown favoritism for a player. It happens on every server no matter how big they are, whether it's MineHQ, Mineplex, Hypixel, PvPLounge, whatever it is - each server shows favoritism.
In conclusion, the only problem I see is being biased, not being careful on who you recruit, and how you set your rules differently for each person. Like I mentioned before about the staff member that got Octile banned possibly being demoted and banned if the evidence was false - because Octile was a friend of Ginie's. Normally that'd be a warning but in that case it would've resulted in a possible demotion and ban, and I am not speaking alone on this; multiple people, respectable or not, can agree on this. The staff team's strongest and friendliest section are the UHC hosts. ArenaPvP by far needs to either pick more suitable members for the job, or improve on the current one. Not everyone in arena pvp that's staff are bad, but there is a good portion of them who need to actually show they're doing something. I barely see any punishments in chat anymore. I think the lobby system kind of screwed this part over about players being able to /msg staff that are online, because I rarely see any when I do /list.
Hopefully this was constructive enough and if I've said anything that was incorrect or out of line or wrong, my apologies.

@MasterGberry not sure if you are still looking at this thread but this sums up my feelings.

To add on to mods being biased, every mod whether it was in uhc or arena pvp, always respond to known players no matter what. I do agree that I used to do that myself but rarely do I see a non donator being responded to as diligently as famous ranked players, or just known players. I won't bother expanding on how ginie favors some mods and for some reason every report made on that gets denied which is showing some favoritism to admins I guess.https://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/127152 for example this ( I don't understand why m0xy is the only mod allowed to turn off pm's) nothing too big but I guess it does show some bias.

I think overall you made some valid points, however it is extremely important for you to understand that there is so much more to recruiting/managing staff than you would think. It is tedious and takes a lot of consideration. You did kind of touch on what I am perceiving as favoritism when it comes to new staff hires. Well sorry to burst your bubble but favoritism is going to be prevalent in almost any kind of environment you are involved in. Someone I once new described it this way, "Favoritism is a part of life. Someone who was less qualified than you will get a job that you wanted, because they knew someone who worked there. This happens all the time. Having someone who is able to vouch for your responsibility and hard work is invaluable in nearly every situation in the world. This is not favoritism per se."
