That's still a very big if.

Usually that won't work. Especially playing early morning/late night when there's even less players on.

I agree with what you're saying, in early morning/late night it's going to be near impossible to find a match, but if we want a fair ranking/matchmaker system, unfortunately we'll have to deal with it.
Usually my problem is that there are people in the queue (I tend to play at prime time for above reason) but I can't actually queue them, and they leave.

It can happen

What I thought of is maybe having a que limit for each ladder (maybe make it a 5 second cooldown before requeueing to try to get in for non-donors, less for donors). Not sure how that would work but they could try it with a beta idk.

No it wouldn't if you're an ASIA player because theres only 50 ppl playing at most in peak times

The matchmaker for Season 13 was a step in the right direction towards making a better matchmaking experience, but it had some serious design flaws which have been flushed out now to make a proper matchmaking experience. In other games where a match or set of rounds can last between twenty minutes and an hour players do not mind waiting five minutes to get a good fair match. Unfortunately for Minecraft the matches are very fast, as a result players need a mixture of fair matches and quick matches to keep them busy. This being said the new matchmaker:

1. Scans the rating range way faster now. It also scans based on how many players are online (really fast for regions like Asia/AU).
2. Will not remove you from the queue if you cannot find a match right away.
3. After 20 seconds of trying to find you a match will just shove you against the first player it can find if you have not found one yet.
