I remember when this was just an idea. Now that's an actual, tangible thing is wonderful.

If you read the rest of your thread the answer is there.

So why can't you just make it so the client just doesn't allow transparent textures on blocks? (like skins work?)

Or alternatively just have a pack with block textures that always stays on top? (just like default stays under in vanilla)

A lot of those "unmodifiable textures" would be the textures that people want to modify lol

Yep, that's why the ideal solution would probably be that the client just wouldn't allow transparency on any block textures that allow for x-ray?..

I made a complete collection of the block textures that allow for an x-ray pack to work in 1.7 :)

Edit: ..Oh I see they are using 1.8 in which Mojang "fixed" x-ray packs (they missed some textures.. most notably grass) ..but they implemented custom block models ..which could be used for even better x-ray packs!.. So idk how you could fix this ..just don't allow resource packs to do custom models..? IDK

I might be a dumbass for asking this question, but what's the difference between client-side and server-side anticheats?

Hey idk if anyone has said this yet but if you wanted to use your own texture packs without whitelisting them, would it be possible for the client to just have built in block textures you'd have to use, maybe like default, faithful, infinite or whatever that you'd have to overlay to use a custom texture pack? I think this would be able to stop x-ray texture packs and also allow people to use their own texture packs as well, kinda making a compromise :)

Edit: someone said something like this but please look into it :)

Transparent textures on the blocks (except glass/leaves…) should act like skins do. Or you could just ignore the blocks folder and make block textures selectable from in game only (people will submit blocks etc..)
