MMR system explanation.

I understand I previously made a similar thread however that was hard to read and poorly made, this will be the corrected version for new players not understanding MMR.Starting off
When you first join the arena servers you're going to be unranked in every kit for the time being. You are required to play 10 placment matches to see where you will be rated according to your skill level and you win to loss ratio. Until these matches are fulfilled and played you will simply have "unranked" in place of a normal rating. When you begin to play matches, after every match it will tell you how many you have left before you will receive a rank.
The ratings.
There is a tiering system for all of the different rating which I will be explaining here. The tiers go as follows: Bronze -> Silver -> Gold -> Emerald -> Diamond -> Masters.
Each of the different tiers has a sub rating of 1-5, with masters being the exception. For each of the tiers containing the 1-5 intervals you will have to rank up to advance to the next class. 5 in each tier is the lowest and 1 is the highest. Each match victory will give you a certain amount of points and when you reach 1000 points you will be faced with a promotion match, it is also when you lose matches you lose points and if you get to zero you will play a demotion match. Both of which I will explain now.
Promotion and Demotion matches.
When you win or lose a certain amount of matches you are going to be given either a promotion or a demotion match. I will explain both here.
Promotion- When you win matches in a kit you will be given a certain amount of points based on the rating of both players. If you beat a player with a much higher rating you will be given more points, while beating a player ranked lower than you will give a smaller amount of points. When you consistently win enough matches you get 1000 points within a specific ladder you will be given a "promotion match". This match will determine if you advance to the next tier/class or not. When you are at the stage of a promotion match and you enter the queue, you will hear a NPC noise and be given a message in chat alerting you this is the promotion match. If you win the match you will advance and be given an affect of items from that ladder shooting from you. (Example, if you make it to emerald 2, emeralds will shoot out around you) If however you lose the match you will lose a specific amount of points and will have to get back to 1000 to attempt to advance again.
Demotion- When you lose enough matches in a specific ladder your rating will be set to 0/1000 for that ladder. When that happens the next match you will play will be your "demotion match". When you enter a match you will hear a NPC noise to alert you that this match will determine if you derank to the previous tier/rating or not. If you do end up losing the match you will derank to the previous number/rank depending where you stand. If you however win the match you will earn a specific amount of points and be able to play matches again like normal.
How the ranks work.
For all of the tier besides masters there is a numerical interval of 1-5 to go though to advance. In each tier, 5 is the lowest and 1 is the highest. For example, If you are currently rated Silver 1 in archer and you go to win your promotion match you will advance to gold 5. Also if you silver 5 in archer and you lose your demotion match you will be deranked down to Bronze 1. The numbers of 1-5 are the ones that determine if you advance/derank to the previous or next tier. The numbers 2-4 are simply to get closer to deranking or advancing in each ladder.
Masters -Masters is the one exception the interval rule as this tier has no numbers to go with it. Masters is the last ladder that come directly after you advance past Diamond 1 in any ladder. Reaching masters is the highest tier and you can play forever on and have no tier change from here. When you continue to play in a ladder as a master you can win the matches and you win earn points that go to your overall rating but will not advance you. For example, If you achieve masters in BuildUHC and continue to play, you will earn points alone and make your rating say "Masters 400 points" It will add to the overall rating of your masters tier but there is no where to advance.
This sums up just about all the information you need to understand the MMR system Badlion uses today, I hope this was helpful.
