UHC Season 8


Hey everyone. We are excited to share our latest changes and upgrades to the UHC systems on Badlion for UHC Season 8 which will be starting officially on the 24th of December starting with the first game in Europe. In this update for UHC we have worked on some new gamemodes, some bug fixes, and a big change in punishments for UHC which we think will help improve the UHC community as a whole. Let's start with the gamemodes.

New Gamemodes

We have worked out some new gamemodes for next season, and I want to briefly touch upon one that was added mid-season in Season 7 that not everyone might know about.

Old School

Old School gamemode is based around the UHC 5.0 caving system. The number of caves has not been modified, nor the ore rates. These are all pure vanilla (default) Minecraft values. Some people prefer this gamemode since they harder and more close to the original UHC feel that Badlion had in the past.

Flower Power

A fun and "trollish" gamemode from Reddit (credit to https://www.reddit.com/u/Tomathius) where you break flowers to get random items. It adds some chaos factor into UHC and really drives up the luck factor. It's a lot of fun too though, and would be a statless game when hosted by our team. This should be especially fun for the Community UHCs.

Moles

An interesting twist to UHC which focuses on some "secret agents" trying to sabotage their teams by working with other "secret agents" aka moles. This gamemode is also from Reddit (credit to https://www.reddit.com/u/sje46 and https://www.reddit.com/u/Sepples). The things you should know about this gamemode are:

  • When pvp is enabled on 1 mole per team will be randomly assigned
  • Moles should work together to take out all normal players
  • If all normal players are dead the moles will win the game
  • Moles can use /mmc <message> to talk in private with all other moles
  • Gamemode uses random formed teams so you can't pick your teammates in advance

  • Airdrops

    This gamemode is taking some inspiration from our SG 2.2 update (also credit to: https://www.badlion.net/profile/user/GIOLIVE). People love the fact that the Airdrops create opportunity to snowball, but more importantly force fights earlier on. By adding loot airdrops into UHC we feel that this gamemode can create some more fun early game content around the map instead of just near the middle. Some important things to note are:

  • Every 5 minutes (from start of game, not just when PvP is enabled) 1 airdrop will be dropped in each quadrant of the map (e.g. + +, + -, - -, - +)
  • 1 minute before it drops a beacon will start shining on the location
  • To open an airdrop rapidly left click on the box (like sg supplydrops)

  • Bounty Hunter

    Bounty Hunter gives players some more focused attention during a UHC. Instead of just trying to survive and kill everyone around you, you are assigned a priority target to try and hunt down and slay. We think that this will create some nice secondary objectives in the UHC. Some more information is provided below:

  • Before PvP is enabled everyone will be assigned a bounty
  • If you kill your bounty you'll get a reward for it (3 golden apples)
  • If your bounty is killed then you are assigned to kill the person who slayed your bounty
  • If you kill your bounty you are assigned to then kill your bounty's bounty
  • To find your bounty use the compass given to you. The compass will point to the location of your bounty which will be updated every minute.
  • If you right click your compass it will tell if you're close or not.

  • OPs vs World

    Bringing back an old classic Badlion gamemode that used to just be hosted here and there for special occasions known a OPs vs World. The objective was to create a very powerful team with OP gear and then have the rest of the server trying to kill this group of OP players. The OPs start at the middle of the map and wait for the rest of the server to gear up and then all out war begins. Some key factors are listed below:

  • 2 big teams: 1 team with all staff/retired/famous/famous+ players, 1 team with the rest of the players
  • OP team will spawn inside 100x100 with some pregiven gear
  • Beds act as bedbombs in normal world, once placed they'll explode 2.5 seconds later unless destroyed again before

  • Strikes in UHC

    We are cracking down on some of the foul gameplay that is going on in UHCs. We want UHCs to be a fun experience for everyone, and not just a few people. Some people in the community are bending rules left and right or fighting without honor really, and we want to bring an end to this. If you do something out of line during a Hosted UHC you will be given a strike. If you get too many strikes you will not be allowed to participate in UHCs temporarily. More detailed information is presented below:

  • Strikes last for 1 week and then they will disappear
  • When you have 3 strikes active you're no longer allowed to play. In the case you are ingame you'll be instant deathbanned from the game
  • You can get multiple strikes in a single match
  • You can view your own strikes using /strikes

  • This system will most likely be changed during the season as we see how effective it is. This is just a first pass on the system, but I personally see it's severity increasing heavily after testing it out for a week or two. Basically the bottom line is if you act like a dick, you won't be welcome to play UHCs.

    Tweaks

  • The fake red glass border + 1.8 border are now also active in nether
  • When being respawned any healing used in the last 60 seconds alive will be given back to you on respawn

  • Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue where community UHC hosts couldn't relog.
  • Fixed disguise names being blank when use team colors on names
  • Fixed spamming /practice to glitch and allow you to get in the main world too early
  • Fixed specs being able to set off bedbombs in nether

  • Conclusion

    I hope people are excited for the new gamemodes and changes coming this season. I hope that we can together make UHC a better and more fun place for everyone.

    ur making badlion uhc into more of a minigame rather than a hardcore experience. . . I'd recommend removing the "trollish" gamemodes as you like to call them and keep those for reddit or smaller servers. Having 5.0 as an option is good though.

    Not everyone always wants to play the classic UHC gamemodes that people are used to. They also want to keep the game fun and these gamemodes will help with that, it's nice to have a more laid back game also.

    This looks great, but old school needs to get hosted more, there's like two or three of these games per region per week. A lot of players, at least that I know love old school but it hardly gets hosted, because in my opinion and a quite a few others 6.0 has gotten really bland, it's just mine all game get stacked, and then don't fight because you don't want your armor to lose durability. So please just host more of those games even if you just made it so there was one per region per day. Thanks! - Spike
